water park situation

Hey everyone,

Something cool happened today....

There is this waterpark- Splish Splash- here on Long Island. They have NO

passes or wristbands for special needs children. Many people, including

myself, have had bad experiences with staff there. Over the summer, many

parents were complaining on a local list, saying they wrote letters to the

place and to the county executive- and nothing happened. The response was-

go later in the day.....

So, I made a couple of calls and got ahold of the guy who started the

special needs policy at Disney years ago (many of you have taken advantage

of this). He now works for the co. that manages SS (and 10 other parks).

He read my email, where I quoted several parents and their concerns. I made

my first call on Friday- emailed Friday night- and talked to the guy

today....

He gets on the phone and tells me that the management company will change

the policy- he'll work on it this week- email me a rough draft- and it will

be in affect asap.

OMG-- I'll tell you guys (cause ya know me)- I wanted to cry. It was

exactly what I wanted to hear. He kept saying " it's the right thing to do " .

We agreed on everything. They are going to change the policy in ALL of

their parks- not just the one on Long Island. With all the fighting and

struggling- it was soooo nice to talk to someone who understands and will do

what is right for our families. I look forward to seeing this policy

started- and hopefully my son will be the first one in line to get a

wristband (you know i'll take pictures). It will be so nice to write

letters of thanks, instead of complaints for once.

To see what parks Palace Entertainment manages:

I'll also forward you all the draft and hopefully get feedback. It's hard

with about 20 different locations with 20 different sets of problems- and

write ONE policy for everyone. But, they are going to try. The least WE

can do is help- right?

Thanks for letting me share :) I'm so excited- this will help a lot of our

families!
