Guest guest
We love Lainie Friedman Ross. Lainie Friedman Ross for President!!!! The only sane person in the room. The only agnostic from the Religion of Vaccines. Guest guest
Jenna, Right on mom!!!!. You have put the onus exactly where it belongs, on the PEDIATRICIAN. In fact, your questions should be made into a booklet, distributed nationwide to EXPECTANT parents, PRIOR to the BIRTH of their first child. Perhaps during "La Maize" classes. How long do you think it would take PEDIATRICIANS to begin realizing THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE VACCINES THEY ROUTINELY ADMINISTER TO BABIES? Mom, every Public School administer who demands a child's vaccination record prior to admitting that child should be asked the very same questions. These are the targets. PEDIATRICIANS AND PUBLIC SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE WILLINGLY ASSUMED THE RESPONSIBILITY TO "ENFORCE AND ADMINISTER" OUR CHILDHOOD VACCINE POLICIES. THEY MUST BE CHALLENGED ON WHAT THEY REALLY KNOW ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING. We are always focused on the CDC/FDA/AAP, etc. We should begin to refocus our education effort to PARENTS using Jenna as our example. How long do you think it would take individual pediatricians or individual public school adminstrators to begin demanding the CDC/FDA provide them with answers to these types of serious inquiry? Guest guest
Well, I now have a " counterstrategy " for responding to this line from physicians (and I've heard it many times). I tell them that my family is full of people (physicians and scientists) that DO know how to read the studies and that have actually READ them (unlike most physicians), and they think the studies purporting to show no evidence of harm are riddled with issues. I then say something to this effect: it is not my job to prove that vaccines are dangerous; it is your job to convince me that they are safe. The very little safety data I have been able to find on vaccines looks wholly inadequate. For example, the ProQuad trials had a 4 week follow up period, which is totally inappropriate--no one is going to diagnose a child with autism within that time period. You couldn't even get into the office of a pediatric neurologist/developmental pediatrian in four weeks! Then I give the physician the opportunity to convince me to give my child a vaccine, and while they are doing so, I pepper them with questions like: 1/ how many subjects were in the safety studies? 2/ how old were the subjects in the safety studies? (e.g., are they testing 5 year olds and then giving it to 2 month old infants?) 3/ what were the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the studies? (e.g., are kids or adults with health problems, even minor ones, excluded?) 4/ were the study groups located in the third world and/or in inner-city areas? (where informed consent may not be meaningful and the person reporting side effects may not be reliable or deemed credible by an investigator)? 5/was the vaccine tested against placebo or against another vaccine? 6/what are the side effects exactly (don't accept that they are " rare " -what does rare mean anyway, 1 in 100?; 1 in 100,000?) and what was the follow up period for memorializing side effects? 7/ how long has the vaccine been on the market? 8/ what does the post-marketing safety data look like? 9/ how was efficacy measured and how long does it last? 10/ what are the actual morbidities associated with the disease we are trying to prevent? (if they say that " children die " , say How many per year? and then How many per year die or suffer serious side effects from adminstration of the vaccine?) The physician will never know the answer to all of these questions because they don't know, but the point is to put the onus on THEM to show safety, not on US to disprove safety. I am always very polite and professional when I have this discussion, and then I tell the doctor I will reconsider my position if they can provide me with this data. They never do. Guest guest
Jenna: You are way too tough. Forcing them to prove something that relies on witchcraft, folklore and wives' tales is a tall order. I would never let you sit in my pro-thimerosal in vaccines treehouse!! You'd only ask me hard questions! Guest guest
Henry: It's just that I still have a tiny shred of hope that someone will listen--it ain't gonna be the gov't/pharma industry, but the doctors are truly just ignorant, in my view. I'm trying to pick 'em off, one by one (or at least get them thinking a little). My mom is head of two different residency programs and entertains at her cabin a lot, so I have opportunities on a pretty regular basis to sit down with docs and talk to them about this issue....just for the record, doctors in specialties other than internal medicine and pediatrics are MUCH more receptive to the message (pediatricians tend to be outright hostile). And again, the best, best strategy (I've been through them all) is to make THEM defend the SAFETY studies. Jenna p.s. To the big Pharma spies in Henry's treehouse--time to put together some vaccine Q & A cheatsheets for your physician detailers! > > > > This is the problem. > > These people are something out of the Emperor's New Clothes. > > There is no reasoning with them. > > > > ETHICAL ISSUES RELATED TO VACCINATION OF > CHILDREN > > > > > > > > http://www.newswithviews.com/Tenpenny/sherri9.htm > > > > " Even though I was only able to attend the second day of the > conference, the agenda for the day, " Vaccine Hesitancy and Parents > Who Refuse to Vaccinate Their Children, " was of great interest. Guest guest
That's been my experience as well. Not that I speak to many Drs. I find nurses generally more receptive also. Keep plugging.
