Guest guest
NAA absolutely agrees with Dr. Rimland. We sent out an action alert today, as did A-CHAMP, asking everyone to contact the HELP committee members right away and demand that the vaccine research language stay intact in the bill. The bill language was written and agreed upon by all of the major autism organizations in the US. It wasn't easy. NAA, SafeMinds, No Mercury, A-CHAMP, Moms Against Mercury, GR (sorry if I've left anyone out) and others fought to have vaccine research be included in the bill and refused to support the CAA without it. All of the organizations finally agreed and came to a concensus. But now that the bill is about to be brought to the floor, there is pressure from certain unnamed legislators to take the vacccine language out and some of the organizations involved seem willing to let that happen at this point, instead of sticking with the concensus and doing for what's right for our children. If you are a supporter of a national autism organization, let them know that you want them to fight for this language. This is YOUR bill! It's not too late to sway the committee. PLEASE make phone calls and send faxes to the HELP committee members. Ask all of your family and friends to do the same. Let them know that you want a bill that will actually help our kids, not just a billion dollar gift to the CDC and more useless research. Guest guest
I called Kennedy’s office again and they were very responsive and his aide says he’s been receiving a lot of calls. Although they continue to say that Santorum is the one with the ball right now. Guest guest
NoMercury concurs with Dr. Bernie Rimland in reference to The Combating Autism Actcan. NoMercury can not continue to endorse the Combating Autism Act unless it includes clear and explicit language supporting meaningful research on the role of vaccines and mercury as plausible causes of the autism epidemic. This was agreed upon by all of the groups who participated in the consensus, including NoMercury. NoMercury firmly believes all of the organizations that participated in reaching the consensus should honor their commitment and stand firmly together as a community to urge Congress in the strongest possible terms to adopt the revised consensus bill. Together, we are a powerful force. Lujene G. President M. Weinmaster Vice-President NoMercury has no financial interest in the Combating Autism Act nor is it our intention to seek any grant funds from anyone, much less under the Combating Autism Act. NoMercury is a philanthropic based venture whose mission is to educate policy makers, physicians and the public regarding the dangers of mercury in vaccines. NoMercury primarily serves as an educational resource and in a non- compensated advisory capacity to assist state legislators, medical professionals and non-profit organizations in banning mercury in medicine and vaccines. NoMercury does not solicit funds nor do we accept donations. NoMercury does not endorse, promote or sell any products or services. We are not " anti-vaccine " rather we advocate for safer vaccines. Guest guest
I still say the vaccines in those states need to be independently tested to ensure they are thimerosal-free. If I wasn't scraping for Allie's IVs I'd bet big $$$$ that they aren't thinerosal free and won't be until they're tested and legal action is taken. Re: The (Pretending to) Combat Autism Act From this morning's Imus show:Imus talks to Fineman about Senator Rick Santorum's ® PA bidfor re-election:Imus: "You know I get hammered enough and I am in enough trouble overthis combating autism act, but Santorum, of course, is a primarysponsor of that bill that he is trying to get passed to provide thesefolks with autistic children, which is an epidemic in this country, some relief and so on...but I understand from my friends in the autismcommunity that they have taken out the research provision of all ofthat looking into environmental factors and examining the effect of,oh God, do I dare mention this? Thimerosal and vaccines and so on, andthey are screwing these people, so I was supporting Santorum in hisfutile race down there in Pennsylvania but my question for you is, ishe in trouble?" Fineman, Newsweek: "Yeah, he's definitely in trouble. I mean--"Imus: "Good" Fineman, Newsweek: "He's having to put out ads saying here area hundred things about Rick Santorum that you don't know because hedid such an effective job of portraying himself as a very hard-lined,culturally hard-lined conservative Republican, pro life, you know, down the line, against gay marriage, down the line, very much alliedwith conservatives in the Vatican and the, you know the sort of toughview that the Catholic clergy have about American society, that someof it's failing, and that's all anybody knew about him, that's eventhough he's been in politics in Pennsylvania for a long time. And he'sdesperately trying to tell people wait a minute, there are otherthings about me. You know, I have been through different researchprojects. I am not some sort of mad faith based guy. You know, Ibelieve in research. I have gotten money for universities. And he istrying to portray himself as a more moderate sort of Arlen Specterkind of Republican, and he is desperately trying to do that to sure uphis support in the key areas in the state for him, which are going tobe the suburbs of Philadelphia, and it's going to be tough. The bestthing he's got going for him is that Bob Casey, the Democrat, is akind of a lackluster campaigner. He's a guy with a famous name inPennsylvania because his late father was governor, but Casey is not agreat campaigner. And Casey's just hoping that Santorum keeps flailingaround. And Santorum doesn't want to have Bush come visit, except to raise some money here and there. I mean the problem that alot of these people have is that they don't want the President in tocampaign for them. So what are they arguing for?" > > > > > The (Pretending to) Combat Autism Act > > [From the Schafer Autism Report.]> > > > By Bernard Rimland> > Dr. Bernard Rimland is the founder and director of the Autism > > Research Institute> > > > I strongly oppose endorsing "The (Pretending to) Combat Autism Act"> > unless it includes clear and explicit language supporting > meaningful> > research on the role of vaccines and mercury as plausible causes of> > the autism epidemic. <snip>> > > > <snip> EDITOR'S NOTE: The Schafer Autism Report would like to > > encourage dissenters of either above commentary to send their > > comments here as a forum for further discussion of this important > > matter to the community. -LS edit@> >>
