Guest guest
, Trust me when I tell you taht the senators don't answer their own phones and will not come to the phoneto speak with you even if they are there. The best you can do at this point with these calls is give the messageto the person in charge of health concerns and if they are not there to speak with you --give it to whomever you can. You can let them know you are from another state-this is the HELP cimmittee and it doesn't matter or you don't have to tell them if they don't ask. Anyone have somethingbetter to chime in-please go ahead.andrea52521991 <mkeller@...> wrote: >Hope this isn't a stupid question, but how are you guys received when you call a Senator from a state that is not from where you live? Are there Senator's who flat out do not take comments from people outside of their own state?Do you just say you are concerned about a HELP comm. issue? On your faxes do you state where you live? Guest guest
Maurine, I didn't mean to sound like I would talk to the Senator in person. Oh but dear God, would I lkie to get Bill Frist on the phone for a few minutes!!LOL I mean if their staff automatically discounts/cuts you off if they ask where you live and you don't reside in that Senator's state. Does your opinion/call get disregarded because you do not reside in that paticular state that he/she represents? Anytime I've called my own Senator's they'll hear mw out and then they get you name, address and I usually get a let (could be two months later) following up on my call- because I am a constituent. > >Hope this isn't a stupid question, but how are you guys received > when you call a Senator from a state that is not from where you live? > > Are there Senator's who flat out do not take comments from people > outside of their own state? > > Do you just say you are concerned about a HELP comm. issue? > > On your faxes do you state where you live? > > Thanks to whomever can advise on this. > >
Guest guest
The Senate offices are generally happy to take your phone calls. They understand in that the Senate protects the minority viewpoint (only two Senators per state) that people across the country will and do call to chime in on issues. Guest guest
This is about par for the course. The Senators are said to be made aware of the buzz each day. What the idea of calling really does is saturate the Senate with phone calls in hopes that our allies will get the message that Frist, Santorum and Clinton are at it again. Re: Re: CAA-CALL/FAX-Question about contacting Senator's from other states , Trust me when I tell you taht the senators don't answer their own phones and will not come to the phoneto speak with you even if they are there. Guest guest
I have never had anyone be absolutely nice to me on thephone(I am sure they are trained todo that nomatter who calls). Whether or not they care about your call or make much of it is something else. Yes, if you are from the congress person's state-they willoften take you name etc., but if you are not normally they just listen(one hopes) to what you have to say and tell you they will pass the messageon to the proper party(you hope for that too).. Hope that helps. Maurineandrea52521991 <mkeller@...> wrote: Maurine,I didn't mean to sound like I would talk to the Senator in person. It's not radically different. Just radically better.
Guest guest
, Just play it by ear. The key is to express your displeasure about the vaccine research wording getting stripped off the CAA by certain Senators. You might be surprised at the responses you get. One Republican Senate aide told Ker that even certain of Frist's own staff members call him satan. Guest guest
Thanks Kerbob for the education on how all this works(love the " How a bill becomes a law-). I was still using the School House Rock version- yours is a little more sopshistcated format LOL! I've called about half the senator's on the HELP commitee. All the staff I 've spoke to have been realy nice. Some have been very interested and ask some really good questions. Positive experience so far. > > This is about par for the course. The Senators are said to be made aware of the buzz each day. What the idea of calling really does is saturate the Senate with phone calls in hopes that our allies will get the message that Frist, Santorum and Clinton are at it again. > >
Guest guest
I can believe it. That's what we affectionately call him around our house too. > > , > > Just play it by ear. Guest guest
It doesn't hurt to say that if the Senator is not supporting the language, that MANY will be asking " why " , as this is for the children. You may want to inquire " what or whom influenced his decision " as MANY are watching this bill/language. > > >Hope this isn't a stupid question, but how are you guys > received > > when you call a Senator from a state that is not from where you > live? > > > > Are there Senator's who flat out do not take comments from people > > outside of their own state? > > > > Do you just say you are concerned about a HELP comm. issue? > > > > On your faxes do you state where you live? > > > > Thanks to whomever can advise on this. > > > > >
