Guest guest
An autism parent should point them to DAN! Wouldn't it be a hoot (in a sick way) if the " expert " woulda said, " Sure, we know where to turn, ask the autism community... " Debi > > This has been a tragedy. This second headline says it all... > http://www.nbc10.com/news/9685442/detail.html > > Expert Not Sure Of Long-Term Effect Of Mercury On Children > UPDATED: 9:17 pm EDT August 15, 2006 > FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The parents of children who were exposed to dangerous mercury in their South Jersey day care were hoping to get some answers Tuesday night. The contaminated day care is located in lin Township in Gloucester County. " I want some results. I want them to tell us why, " said Delores , a grandmother of children who attended the Kiddie Kollege day care.State officials said the day-care center was built on a toxic site -- a former thermometer factory. Now, the children who went to the day care have been tested and some have elevated levels of mercury poisoning. " Salvatore is 9.5 and Dante is 10.6. Now, I want to know what they're going to do, " said about her grandchildren.Experts say a normal level for mercury is 5.After operating for two years, the state Department of Environmental Protection closed the doors of Kiddie Kollege.DEP officials said they ordered the thermometer company to clean up the property 10 years ago, but that > never happened. " I want somebody in jail. I want answers, I don't just want a slap on the wrist, " said Smierciak. The state health department said the mercury levels were not high enough to lead to acute health problems, but some people are wondering if anyone knows enough about mercury in children to know for sure. " The data is definitely limited in children, and so I think it is fair to say we don't know what that long-term effect is going to be, and I think the problem with kids is we don't have a before to compare to an after, " said Dr. Matz.Matz has done research on mercury. He said the results don't show immediate health problems. " I think as a parent I'd be concerned about this forever, " Matz said. " The levels being lower than the normal toxicity level is encouraging, but I guess parents will always be wondering about that. Guest guest
Hi guys I am the CK2 parent making the contact. I am making my calls this afternoon to the lawyer's (I worked with his mother so that's my initial in) and I have a small list of names of parents that I will try to contact. I wanted to attend last evenings parent meeting with the state but I was hours away at my DAN's office. Please advise on any infomation you think will be helpful for these parents. I don't want to overload them or sound like a snake oil salesman but I do want them to research their options. Thanks NJ > > > > > > This has been a tragedy. Guest guest
I think you should tell them about the standard chelators they can use. Give them an overview of the complexity and controversial nature of mercury detoxification, but also some stories of kids who have recovered. Guest guest
I would suggest you/they invite Boyd Haley to come and speak to them. He's reputable being the UK chemistry leader, mercury is one of his specialties, and he speaks in a way that can be easily understood. Debi > > Hi guys > > I am the CK2 parent making the contact.
