First of all, there is a 1st ammend. in this country (i think) and and/or Autism Speaks are allowed to make any documentary they wish. They have the right to make it, other people have the right to create a petition against it- but I'm not going to sign that petition. As a videographer/editor and as a mother- I enjoyed the documentary and think it has great educational value. The general public needs to understand the pain- and it's not pretty. Why would anyone vote for more funding or better trained teachers if everything in the autism world is a-ok? Every ad for childhood cancer has a picture of a bald child looking sick, ads for animals rights show a hurt dog in a cage..... Of course no video 100% represents every single ASD family- damn- we are all so different. I don't think the video says that murder is ok. Again, if you don't like their video- MAKE YOUR OWN- get a mac and a digital camera and go for it.
Guest guest
I got to agree with you . I spoke with my Senator's asst on Health issues and he was very moved by that video. He had no idea what autism can be for some families. As you say, it may not accurately depict autism for every family, but for the uniformed - it sends a powerful message. I'm sorry if anyone finds this offensive but I certainly was able to relate to a lot of what those mothers had to say. There fears, hopes and dreams.....hit home for me. I think those mothers were very brave to allow themselves and their children's lives to be opened for public viewing and then to be criticized. Unacceptable. Plus, I see some nuero-diverse clowns have signed the petition.I wouldn't want my name on a list with those ass-wipes. > Wow, I actually think this is disrespectful to the makers of the movie. > > First of all, there is a 1st ammend. in this country (i think) and > and/or Autism Speaks are allowed to make any documentary they wish. Guest guest
I agree! I think the video is the only way to get through to some people what we go through. It is MY house they showed, running away, kicking and all. No, I haven't ever even thought of hurting him, but myself not wanting to hurt anymore, heck ya that has happened. I can see where some people have complaints with Autism Speaks. This isn't one of them. It is an amazing view that may help people to realize this IS something serious! Guest guest
Since the petition was started by Leitch, that should tell everyone that it is just another stupid attempt to obscure the truth about autism. > > > > I got to agree with you . > > > > I spoke with my Senator's asst on Health issues and he was very > > moved by that video. Guest guest
I know for a fact that some VERY GOOD PEOPLE WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR KIDS signed that petition accidentally -- so don't assume everyone on that list is in the " ND, autism is just a lovely way to live " , category. Guest guest
I agree with you 100% . This was Leitch's baby. I think it completely misses the spirit and intent of that movie and that creating this petition is a joke (as in laughable). As if it would CHANGE anything... or cause the movie to not be shown. Now that I've said THAT... he'll assume I condone killing special needs children, and that I don't support punishing parents who do! Wow, what a nut. all in all, I thought it was a decent short film. I preferred " Finding the Words " , but I also think that showing the strain that autism can put on families is valid. We need the public and our government to be ready to accommodate these kids current and future needs... and how can we do that without humanizing the problem? and his friends need to chill out. > > > Wow, I actually think this is disrespectful to the makers of the movie. > > First of all, there is a 1st ammend. in this country (i think) and > and/or Autism Speaks are allowed to make any documentary they wish. Guest guest
; You said: " and his friends need to chill out. " Does this mean you favor freezing them in a cryogenic lab until a cure can be found for stupidity? > > > > > > Wow, I actually think this is disrespectful to the makers of the movie. > > > > First of all, there is a 1st ammend. in this country (i think) and > > and/or Autism Speaks are allowed to make any documentary they wish.
