Many health professionals will tell you that proper hand washing is

the key to staying healthy, and I don't mean with antibacterial hand

soaps. Just plain soap and water and wash under running water, getting

in between your fingers and rubbing the backs and palms of your hands.

Don't cover your face with your hands when you cough or sneeze, try to

use the bend of your arm or shoulder/arm pit area.

Concerning bleach. When I worked in an elementary school cafeteria

about 10 years ago, we used a teaspoon or two of bleach in a spray

bottle of water (about a quart) to wipe down the tables and other

surfaces. When the health inspector came to check everything, she

always put a test strip in the bottles to be sure we were using enough.

If there was an outbreak of flu, bad coughs and colds, the teachers

would use the same method to clean the desks, door knobs, etc. to help

prevent the spread of germs.

bleach affects some people that way but for me it smells all safe and

clean!

but yes i am trying to avoid using it too much but also wondering if it is

that bad!

i have managed to avoid having a cold for over 2 years now due to really

improving hygiene and hand hygiene, though shouldnt say that as tempting

fate!
