Guest guest
Maybe he's just cannon fodder in the greater scheme of things. Cannon fodder speaking of collateral damage. How fitting. Why Offit won't debate First of all, I'm not sure the decision is his to make. His "handlers" (ie Pharma) know he isn't up to the job. He's fine for certain purposes, doing lectures for other doctors (aka sympathetic audiences) and brief appearances on the news, because of his academic credentials. But he's a loose cannon, and his bosses know it. You guys have seen him- he is so emotional, high strung, nervous, even when just talking to a reporter- and nervous he should be, because our children threaten his livelihood. The Rotavirus fiasco could have been a career ender. His beloved Menactra is causing young people to get Guillain-Barre. Maybe he's feeling insecure? He sure looks like it- on the verge of crying or lashing out, even under fairly benign circumstances. And off camera, he has been witnessed to scream, shout, and generally make an ass of himself, when confronted with science-quoting, mercury-hating parents like us. He will even go out of his way to take his target away from potential witnesses, before tearing into them. Although not always, because these tantrums have in fact been witnessed. He just does not have what it takes to take us on- any one of us parents, much less the likes of Kirby. He doesn't have the science, but maybe even more important, he doesn't have the emotional stability. He would start losing style points immediately, which would go a long way toward losing the debate in the eyes of an audience that doesn't know anything about the topic. So, if he's the best "they" can do- well, how much longer will it be before we win in the court of public opinion, which is where it really counts?Yesterday, I got my hair cut, and when I talked to my hairdresser, I told her about mercury, vaccines, the whole issue- she knew nothing about it. Her son was born in 1989. It was a large pill for her to swallow- but the thing that sealed it, was when I told her, these kids weren't around when we were growing up. (We're both in our 40s). A light went off- she said, "yeah, mental retardation has always been around, but autism? ADHD? Learning disabilities? That just wasn't around when we were kids." Answer THAT, ."For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate error so long as reason is free to combat it." Guest guest
Watched more of his unilateral debate at AEI. From an examination of the production aspects C-SPAN, never to be confused with the free press, or whatever company was hired to provide C-SPAN the feed from the presentation was " minded " in the control booth. I saw some pretty clear choreographing between Offit and the booth director. The director seemed to know at what point of the presentation Offit would turn to the folded USA Today paper. What we got to see was the director holding a side angle for his eyes ahead of when Offit reached over for the ad. Almost on cue, as soon as Offit reached for J.B.'s ad the director dropped the screen cluttering supers and cut to a front shot for a clear view of the ad. Even with the best production people in live commercial TV, supers don't drop until obviously blocking view. C-SPAN was too far out in front of Offit on that one. That's a little uncanny, I think. There was another point of the program where it appeared the booth director was in on the gag. When the Randy guy claimed that manufacturers needed to be greater compensated for vaccine injury, Offit hunted for the red light and flashed his eyebrows up and down several times for the camera. I also noted that in similar fashion to when he refused to debate Kirby on former MSNBC show Coast to Coast demanding to appear alone, Offit started sweating from his upper lip while talking about autism and mercury. The camera caught him wiping his upper lip with a bare hand. Don't police detectives interviewing persons of interest take that as a sign of something? I did note that whatever AEI served for breakfast appeared to be disagreeing with several of the people in the audience. Kidding aside, forget about the cutter incident cover for this meeting, this was a very dangerous dog and pony show. Offit's slides included one about VICP that stated one of the problems with it is VICP is incomplete. Offit's slide said that US law STILL permits claims to drop out of vaccine court. It looked like some Congressional staffers were in the crowd. You can bet that somebody is fixin to take a tape of this " forum " , submit transcripts, and pretty soon a bill or a rider will pop up in Congress using the text of this presentation to enable lawmakers to get the ball rolling on slamming the doors to civil courts on vaccine injury. In other words you will take what *we* give you and you will like it. The Randy guy was very tricky worded. HE clearly believes that all vaccine injury should be handled by vaccine court, calling our children just a slight carved out section of vaccine injury compensation. While he may have seemed to many to be thinking of our children as collateral damage heroes like little firemen and soldiers, he clearly said in cases of vaccine death, twice. He made a bad verbal slip for his side in calling our children " vaccine compensation victims " . That we are. > > First of all, I'm not sure the decision is his to make. Guest guest
Speaking of Offit chicken dances and cannon fodder (sorry, segways are not my specialty), how about 10,000 vaccines all being " shot " at Offit at one time - via the Royal Canadian Air Farce " chicken cannon " ? RCAF did a great job with their home brewed flu vaccine skit a while ago. Maybe they'd be up to a similar stunt now. After all, Offit says handling thousands of shots at once are no problem... I say we let the RCAF chicken cannon take that theory to task. I'll send the RCAF an inquiry to that effect. Who knows.... > > Maybe he's just cannon fodder in the greater scheme of things. > Cannon fodder speaking of collateral damage. > How fitting. > Why Offit won't debate > > > First of all, I'm not sure the decision is his to make.
