Guest guest
Printed NY Post June 3, 2006 ***** I have seen many examples of junk science, but it really disturbs me when I see it portrayed on the front page of The Post as an exclusive report. Apparently, the study of 183 3-year-olds indicated that 42 of them were exposed to high levels of air pollution. Three years later, those same 42 kids scored 5.7 points lower on cognitive tests. Researchers don't know why it took time for the problems to appear, because exposure to pollutants at ages 1 and 2 did not have a significant impact on mental development. How does this "scientific" study explain the fact that one in every six American children suffers some type of childhood development problem, regardless of where they live, from Maine to California, North Dakota to Texas? Obviously something is causing childhood-development problems, and common sense indicates that it is not the local air or water. In fact, the only thing children nationwide have in common is a universal childhood-vaccine program, which requires all children be vaccinated prior to the age of 2.Bob MoffittSloatsburg
