I think that I've lived through most all of the failures, trials and heartache during what already seems like a lifetime with our son, now 21-years, Autistic, and Non-verbal, et al.

I'm new to this EOHarm group! Wow! Here, may be more information than I can absorb and process. However, while it would seem that there are probably many factors from, fetal development, to environment, to genetics, to thimerasol, singularly or in a combination of factors, I have arrived at this point in my life where 'WHY' has become, for me, far less important then the cure, although I know that one follows the other, and that I in all likelihood I will not live to see the cure and never hear my son say "Hi Dad".

As a bit of an amateur futurist, fantasizing about where the cure may lie, I keep coming back to the belief that in stem cell therapies may lie the final answer. Every now and then a small bit of hope seems to squeeze through the tons on minutia, (now minutia to me), with another startling stem cell development that may offer hope.

In the current explosion of stem cell research from fetal stem cells, to developed strains of stem cells, to some current research on the use of one's own nasal stem cells, there is probably a bundle of info and research that we lay parents of people afflicted with Autistic Spectrum Disorder can access and understand, in order to follow the path as it leads to that dreamed-for conclusion.

If any participant in this EOHarm population knows of a www-link to such info and research, I'd love to know about it.

Please email jaynolan@... with any directions of which you may be aware that can lead down that "Yellow Brick Road to OZ.

Many thanks.

J
