PC/LAN Analyst 2

Job Description / Responsibilities

Responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and documenting desktop software and

hardware technical issues in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner and in

adherence with established service standards. Researches, documents, and

responds to all high level support requests and customer inquiries promptly,

efficiently, and professionally. Provide superior service to all customers

through effective communication, both written and verbal. Must have strong

analytical and problem solving skills, with an emphasis on ability to determine

root causes of Windows XP OS and Desktop software issues. Excellent

organizational skills, ability to effectively multi-task, and high levels of

self-motivation a must. Helps create and enforce Desktop standards and

policies. Completes tickets with minimal direction or guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Extensive experience supporting large-scale remote environments

• Expert understanding of Windows XP OS and how it integrates with other

applications

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional 2003

• Ability to provide advanced remote hardware troubleshooting, incl. standard

workstations and desktop printers

• Ability to call users and, via conversation and remote system access,

determine root causes of reported issues, providing timely and accurate

resolutions

• Advanced client-side network connectivity/VPN troubleshooting skills

• Must have excellent documentation skills, incl. ability to accurately type at

least 30 WPM

• Experience with supporting Blackberry devices in a BES environment

• Ability to setup, configure, and maintain own workstation

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience with remote system imaging and software deployment

• Experience creating and publishing technical Knowledge Base content for

internal use

• Ability to create high-level, customer facing, technical documentation

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional 2007

• Ability to run long-term special projects

PC/LAN Analyst 1

Job Description / Responsibilities

Responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and documenting desktop software and

PC\LAN Analyst

Provides PC/LAN and related project support. Identifies/uses or may develop

methods, techniques, diagnostic tools or criteria to troubleshoot, diagnose and

resolve moderately complex PC/LAN related hardware, software, operating systems

and network problems. Analyze client needs and reviews technical alternatives to

determine their impact on the client and systems environment. Participates in

the planning, installation and implementation of new or modified PC/LAN related

hardware, software, applications or operating systems to meet client's

requirements and updates/writes documentation.

Required skills:

• Experience with troubleshooting network printing problems – including problems

affecting individuals and all users on a LAN

• Experience with troubleshooting network connectivity and drive mapping

problems

• Experience with Windows 2003 and 2008 Server operating systems

• Understanding of Windows 2003 and 2008 Server security and share permissions

• Experience with adding printers to a Windows server

Helpful skills:

• Experience with Dell server products, 3com and Cisco switches, and Hewlett

Packard printers

• Understanding of VBS login scripts

• Understanding of Windows Terminal Services

• Understanding of Virtual Private Networking (VPN)

• Experience with Altiris, especially their Helpdesk product

• Experience with network scanning and faxing

• Understanding of Windows Active Directory and Group Policy

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Creativity and methodical problem solving skills.

• A solid understanding of the Windows Desktop and Server environments as well

as the ability to grasp new application concepts quickly and accurately.

• Solid written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with

multiple organizations internally and externally to ensure issue resolution.
