Guest guest
Actually, Lenny, skunks only emit their "stink" when they feel their lives are being threatened. I don't think you can say that much good about a lot of politicians.schaferatsprynet <schafer@...> wrote: I would agree that both parties suffer corruption but that the scopeis limited in both parties, and equally so, roughly. I don't thinkpolitical afillation necessarily reflects a person's character, inother words. The economy feeds our bellies, and for economics to work best, itrequires degrees of trust in the "system" by both workers andinvestors. There has to be sufficient trust in the infrastructure, iethe government. In places with highly corrupt governments, likeRussia, people are loathed to invest their capital and the societysuffers a lower standard of living. People will tolerate some corruption as a fact of life of politics. But there is a line somewhere that politicians cannot step over inpractice. Where's the line? Good question. But I know it ain't soblack and white an answer. The internet is a wild card still in all ofpolitics. With it, the public is able to keep a closer eye on things. I don't think we really have realized yet the revolutionary effectit is starting to have. The more informed the population, the betterchoices they will make. I guess I'm just not cut out to be a cynic.I believe that the corrupt elements within the Republican party arerunning the show and it is beginning to show more and more as thescoundrels have become a bit too bolden and arrogant and revealthemselves. A skunk smells where ever it goes, not just with thevaccine / pharma / bird flu business. Even the conservative base isstarting to hold its nose. Small government ideologues are turningover in their graves over the domestic snooping stuff and generalexpansion of the executive branch, and they're not even dead yet. Both parties have a good share of good people, as far as that can goin politics. To protect the interests of our children and our familieswe need to seek them out and make them our friends and vice-versa. Andwe are doing just that with nice but small measures of sucesss, incase you haven't noticed. Sometimes things stinks, but it's good tobe in America. There I said it, go ahead and hate me for it.Lenny>> "yes. i'm tired of hearing people squabble over which party is most > corrupt-they both are. __________________________________________________
