Honey draws flies better than vinegar.

I think faxes are appropriate for elected officials but what good do

they really do at the CDC?

The people needing to see them will never see them and it only serves to

piss off the people receiving them who likely have little or no power to

do anything.

For the 1000 people who spend the $1-2 dollars for faxing - $1000-2000

could go to research instead.

Do you really think officials will drop what they are doing and say " Yes

these faxes convinced me. We poisoned these kids and we should face

loosing our jobs and/or face jail time " ?

It is my opinion that research is going to make the difference with the

people who make decisions (and the press). That is more likely to get

their attention by either completely exposing them or forcing them to

spend more money and effort on counter studies.

Great meeting you at the conference.

I think you make a valid point about being careful about spending money

or rallies, etc., because it will detract from research funding. But it

is still worth spending some money to rally our community. The hope is

that this will push our government leaders to allocate the big funding

for honest research - the research money raised by private

organizations will always be relatively small, and will never have the

impact of well-funded government studies. So while I agree, there is a

place for allocating some resources for organizing ourselves into

better and more focused advocates.

A perfect example is the MIND institute. Parents such as Rick Rollens

and a few others.organized this effort and successfully pushed for the

State of California to set up the MIND institute. Whatever funds were

expended in the organizing effort certainly paid off dramatically in

getting the state to put resources into research. And we are now seeing

how this is producing dramatically important studies that will help our

kids.

What was done with the MIND Institute is certainly different from

rallies at the CDC but still, parent power is worth spending some money

on.

We need to strike a balance.

who pays for faxes?????

Those who pay phone and long distance bills and, depending on how it's

faxed and the number of sheets faxed, ink and paper.

But the point of not being read by those who can make a difference and

just pissing off those it doesn't still stands.

When you fax- you don't use ink and paper (i think)- except for the 1 or 2 original pieces from your computer printer. The people who you are faxing actually print out the copy. Also, most people have free long distance. The biggest thing for me is it takes a lot of time standing in my kitchen (where i hook the fax up).

thanks,

You make a good point about not trying to catch flies with vinegar,

but do not underestimate the value of polite-but-firm faxes. The

people at the CDC need to understand that for every parent they see at

the rally, there are many others who can not be there. One good way

is to fax one's concerns. If everyone stays on point and steers clear

of being too offensive, any discomfort that may be caused will be the

result of their own guilt.

Good points Wade! Many in that building have no clue what this issue

is REALLY about, and making them feel uncomfortable and possibly

" coming forth " could only help us.

CDC will not be the only ones to get these faxes. Stay tuned.

PS..nice meeting you at A1!

Even better put your computer on autodial to send a certain number,

it would be free, and of course you would do it from an annonymous

email or we could get busted for harassment! Wouldn't that be funny!

That's my point exactly - clear and concise - not long winded, and if

we all say the same things, we will get our point across.

The matter of showing up in Atlanta and sending faxes goes beyond any of us. A lot of people fought and died to give us the right to demonstrate and voice opposition. We would be most remiss to not exercise our rights as citizens of this nation and call people out when we've already have textbook science as supporting proof of government mandated mercury poisoning.

We'll let these unpatriotic global-minded eggheads up easy by skipping the tar and feathering bit, but we can't allow ourselves to believe that worthless scraps of paper pretending to be science are impeccable and allow the notion that there is some sort of controversy to what we parents say.

We must live to tell. Some will say the damage is already done to our children and we should all just walk away, but there's a child in the future who needs us to make things right. This child's mommy and daddy don't need to walk in our footsteps.

We need to make this a country once again where our babies can sleep safe through the night.

As for me: I think I will fax. And chuckle at the image of an

egghead tarred and feathered dancing in my head.
