Ed,

It was great! I was only able to attend until 12:00pm but I heard ,

Blaxill and speak. Dr Deth was also there watching.

Everyone was great especially , of course. His presentation of the

mounting mercury related evidence was very well put together and explosive if

you didn't already know the info.

Blaxill discussed the rates of Autism in MA. It took a riducles 6 years

for the DPH to gather. It looks like about 1/150 full blown and 1/125 for full

spectrum. One of the highest in the nation.

Also, Barbara L'Italian spoke on several legislative peices to push for.

The MA mercury removal bill is House bill 4703, currently it is in the Health

Care finance section. She requested we all call Walrath and

(both in HCF) to bring out this bill. The main number is 617-722-2000.

They also have not seen the evidence yet and need to let in Blaxill, Deth and

others to give it to them.

said she promised to make sure that whatever is causing Autism

they will find it no matter. She showed her interview with the Today show and

he asked her about other rates in other countries. She said she didn't know but

definetly in Europe and other numbers seems staggering. Maybe someone should

e-mail her the infant mortality list the Dr. King posted. And any other

relavant rates world wide.

Feel free to e-mail me if you want more info. -

Hi, I was at the event yesterday. I spoke with MRs. before

she presented. She was genuinely aghast that I have 3 ASD

daughters and asked " do you have any help? " She is indeed

passionate and very warm and lovely. I enjoyed meeting her. And am

eager to see what her passion, power and pocketbook can do for our

community.

During her Q & A time I screwed up my courage and asked Mrs. if

Autism Speaks/NAAR was going to really look into Thimerosal/mercury

poisoning as a cause of autism. I asked if it made the most sense

to anwer that question and then proceed with the research from

there.

She had provided a full color tear sheet of an article on her

Grandson from Good Housekeeping. The sidebar read " some people

believe a preservative (not calling it MERCURY) can cause autism.

The IOM has studied the problem and found no evidence of a link. "

So there was the article about her grandson and next to it -- the

company line --

I know she didn't write the article and has NO connection with how

it turned out. And techically that info is completely true -- but

many women will ONLY read the sidebar while they sit at the beauty

parlor or at the doctors office. And so they will think their kids

are completely safe.

I think it's simple: Find out if you're CREATING these kids in

addition to looking for a cure for the legions who are here.

Were you in the front to the left?? I was the one who asked Blaxill and

L'Italian about getting more legislators to listen to the real evidence to

support anit-thimerosal legislation rather than just state the CDC

recommended taking it out in 1999. I don't think that's a strong enough

stand. Blaxill stated that someone should organize a trip to the offices at

the state house with our children with Autism for a face to face. I think

it's a great idea and as soon as I get some time maybe some of us can do

that. I know my son is a tough cookie and could make an impact. -

,

She promised that they would find the answer no matter what it is (she

got very loud with this response!). With the underlying feeling that she

wanted to assure us they wouldn't back down on keeping monies allotted to

review everything including thimerosal. That's the part of the CAA

(combating Autism Act) many legislators are being pushed by medical agencies

to have removed before supporting. -

Mrs. was very genuine and said " yes, we are looking at

EVERYTHING. " And I believe her -- she doesn't have to be out there

working so hard for the autism community -- her passion is contagious

and powerful. She is a very pretty woman and her eyes just welled up

as soon as she mentioned her Grandson's name. You can fake that love

and commitment. I'm sad she's in this leaky boat called " autism " but

grateful she's fighting so hard. She doesn't need to - and yet has

stepped up to the plate. How many people in her position would have

shied away?

I tried to make sure my question was gentle and a simple mother's plea

(which it is) nothing " in your face. " I think it's a question many of

us have asked and I said to myself, " Self, why not ask the one person

who can honestly answer, there she is! " And Mrs. said " YES WE

ARE LOOKING. "

Meeting her and Kirby on the same day was quite powerful. It

really knocked me out for the day. So overwhelming.

Suzanne responded " We're gonna get to the truth. " She then

added " We're going to have too much money " -- I think she meant that

Autism Speaks will have too many funds for anyone to stop them from

getting at the truth. She reported that Autism Speaks has thus far

raised 40 million dollars toward their goal of 100 million.

When Laurie Flutie spoke she said that the Flutie Foundation wants to

work with Autism Speaks and that they are also determined to get to

the truth.

Yes, 'twas I -- minty green sweater. My 3 girls would make an, ah,

impact, indeed... Especially if I gave them a bowl of Cheerios

with milk the day before! (Never happen, relax!) I've seen your

name on the Genet list -- email me offline?
