Guest guest
BTW, thanks to me, an aide in my daughter's preschool class did not get a mercury containing flu shot. When she told the doctor her concerns about mercury, he gave her the flu mist vaccine. So within one week, the entire class of 3 year olds was sick and two were hospitalized. We went to the district and they put her on administrative leave for several weeks. Not that it mattered. The class no longer needed her as all the 3 year olds were severely ill with fevers of 102+ and horrible respiratory infections. Vera <redhead60707@...> wrote: Why on earth would they even do this? (MEDI | charts | news | PowerRating) provided additional data from Pediatric studies regarding the direct and indirect effects of administering FluMist to school children as well as the safety and immunogenicity of simultaneous administration of FluMist along with measles-mumps-rubella and varicella vaccines. FluMist, which is the first innovation in influenza vaccine technology, is a well-tolerated and effective needle-free option for immunizing healthy children and adults aged 5 to 49 years. There are currently three licensed manufacturers of Influenza Virus Vaccine namely Chiron Corp., which manufactures Fluvirin, Aventis Pasteur, Inc. manufacturing Fluzone and MedImmune, Inc., which manufactures FluMist. Earlier in March, GlaxoKline, the world's second largest drugmaker, submitted a Biologics License Application for Influenza Virus Vaccine - FluLaval to the FDA. If licensed, FluLaval will be used for the active immunization of adults 18 years of age and older. Results from the study proved that vaccinating school children with FluMist made them less prone to influenza-like illnesses, less prescription and non- prescription drug use, lower school absentee rates and fewer missed workdays for adults in the household. Reports say that children who received FluMist had 93% fewer cases of influenza than the children who received a placebo. Another study, which was conducted to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of administering FluMist and measles-mumps-rubella and varicella vaccines simultaneously, proved that concurrent administration of the vaccines was well tolerated in infants 12 to 15 months of age. Immunogenicity was the same when the vaccines were administered simultaneously or separately. In addition, results from post- marketing evaluation study, which was conducted to assess the long-term safety of FluMist in healthy people 5 to 49 years of age were consistent with the results of pre-licensure clinical trials of FluMist. MEDI is currently down 1.62% or $0.51 trading at $30.96 on a volume of 580,713 shares. Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less. Guest guest
Vera and Everyone, Anyone given FluMist should be quarantined for at least THREE WEEKS from contact with others as they can and do communicate (shed) live virus for at least that long. Since this information is included in the package insert, any adult given this vaccine who failed to voluntarily quarantine themselves for at least 21 days after receiving it and/or their healthcare provider who furnished the dose are guilty of negligence and those who get the flu from them (or their parents in this case) should be able to sue the aide and the doctor for negligence as well as the school for failing to prevent the children from coming into contact with a known " Typhoid " flu spreader. If one wanted to give a class full of pre- schoolers multipe flu viruses, I could not think of a better way. This is the case becaise the FluMist delivers three live flu strains with each dose -- not just the one virus that people coming into contact with a " natural " flu case normally get! As with all live-virus vaccines, those innoculated: 1. Get " mild " cases of the viruses in the vaccines given to them, and 2. Can infect others with the viruses administered or, through viral exchange with other viruse in the host, mutated viruses that can be much more virulent than the viruses in the vaccines. Not only does this second possibility suggest that live-virus vaccines are inherently dangerous vaccines but also, for viruses capable of rapid mutation, like the flu viruses, vaccines whose inherent RISKS of creating a pandemic strain by such viral material interchanges CLEARLY outweigh ther claimed benefits -- regardless of what MedImmune, the FDA and the CDC may claim. Hopefully, this incident clearly shows the inherent danger of creating thousands of " mild " flu cases by innoculating with the FluMist vaccine and turning these people loose on a susceptible population. Though the company claims a low percentage rate for sucgh transmissions, it would seem that their claims greatly underestimated the OBSERVED " 100% " secondary-infection rate reported here. At a minimum, FluMist should not be allowed to be given to anyone who comes into contact with children or other groups who may contain people with weakened immunity -- or, in plain English, no one who is given FluMist should be allowed to leave their residence for at least 3 weeks after being administered the vaccine. Ideally, like the oral polio vaccine, this vaccine should NOT be licensed in the U.S. UNLESS its viruses can be proven to be BOTH non-transimmissible and non-mutatable to ANYONE! At present, the RISKS from this vaccine out weigh the putative benefits and the proposal to give another live-virus vaccine to young children with already damaged and/or incompletely developed immune systems flies in the face of both the " first do no harm " and the " err on the side of precaution " principles of medicine. [Perhaps the use of this " vaccine " is the means that will be used to " trigger " the " bird flu " pandemic that the CDC is promising us that we will soon see.] Respectfully, Dr. King http://www.dr-king.com PS: At least you can see how effective this vaccine was in giving those exposed to the person innoculated a much-worse case of the flu than the person innoculated. Hopefully, you will encourage each parent to file a adverse event report with the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) as it is clearl that the vaccine gave the entire class the flu. At a minimum, the parents should seek to have the aide disciplined for knowingly exposing the class to the risk of getting the flu by ignoring the 21-day quarantine specified by the manufacturer! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ At 19:30 5/1/06 -0700, Vera wrote: > >BTW, thanks to me, an aide in my daughter's >preschool class did not get a mercury >containing flu shot. Guest guest
Please take note that 's comments and explanation holds true for any health care workers such as aides, nurses, hospital workers, pediatrician office staff etc, as well. Anyone who comes in contact with people with compromised immune systems should be isolated for three weeks after using Flu-mist. How many health care workers do you think are going to comply with this??? My bet is none will....so beware. Guest guest
I bet there isn't one person who quartantined themselves for three weeks for anything -- let alone a flu vaccine .... most people can't even get three weeks off for HAVING the flu .... > > Vera and Everyone, > > Anyone given FluMist should be quarantined > for at least THREE WEEKS from contact with > others as they can and do communicate (shed) > live virus for at least that long. > > Since this information is included in the > package insert, any adult given this vaccine > who failed to voluntarily quarantine > themselves for at least 21 days after > receiving it and/or their healthcare provider > who furnished the dose are guilty of negligence > and those who get the flu from them (or their > parents in this case) should be able to sue > the aide and the doctor for negligence as > well as the school for failing to prevent the > children from coming into contact with a known > " Typhoid " flu spreader. >
Guest guest
and ALL, In my limited experience, in the ONE instance where a hospital's staff was advised about the risk, the hospital told them that they need only take TWO WEEKS off if they took the FluMist and not the THREE WEEKS in the package insert. Based on this, healthcare workers may being misled about the length of the quarantine period if they are told about it at all. Given the reality of the possibility of secoindary transmission after innoculation, NO healthcare provider should be offered the FluMist influenza vaccine or any other live-virus vaccine without: 1. A rigorous PAID quarantine 2. A QUARANTINE period of at least one week longer than the " established " quarantine period, and 3. DOCUMENTED testing that proves the innoculated individual is not shedding any of the innoculated viruses at least one week before they are allowed to return to work. [This provision is needed because it has been documented, for the live poliovirus, that some individuals shed live virus for an extended period of time. 4. TEMPORARY disability awards for those who continue to shed live virus for longer than the period the vaccine manufacturer states in their package insert. 5. Reportng of all extending shedding to VAERS as an adverse event. 6. Long-term disability for those who work in positions where they come into contact with the public who continue to shed the live virus or viruses for more than 1 year from the date of innoculation UNTIL their periodic (monthly) test results indicate that they are no longer shedding the innoculated virus or viruses for at least two consecutive months. Hopefully, the preceding has addressed what is a serious issue for those in ANY position where they have daily contact with others who MAY be susceptible to contacting any of the live influenza viruses in the vaccine with which they have been innoculated. Respectfully, Dr. King http://www.dr-king.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ At 10:17 5/2/06 -0400, wrote: > >Please take note that 's comments and >explanation holds true for any health care >workers such as aides, nurses, hospital >workers, pediatrician office staff etc, >as well. > >Anyone who comes in contact with people >with compromised immune systems should be >isolated for three weeks after using Flu-mist. >How many health care workers do you think >are going to comply with this??? > >My bet is none will....so beware. > > > Re: Yikes- FluMist and measles-mumps-rubella and varicella vaccines simultaneously > >Vera and Everyone, > >Anyone given FluMist should be quarantined >for at least THREE WEEKS from contact with >others as they can and do communicate (shed) >live virus for at least that long. > >
Guest guest
This makes me laugh, b/c where I work, they push the flu shot to help with absenteeism, well, if you have to take 3 weeks off work, what the hell is the point? Guest guest
Thanks , for the great information.... And , where I work they ONLY push the injection and give no warnings about anything other than some arm soreness, certainly nothing about mercury. And Thimerosal free is not an option as far as I know, but I'll find out. Guest guest
King's entries are precisely what we mean by informed of informed consent. Guest guest
Yes it is the informed of "informed" consent. Here is another bit of propaganda which provides mis and disinformation about the flu vaccines and has been presented at the recently held Annual Meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies, which ended on May 2,2006. Nasal Spray Flu Vaccine Twice as Good as Shot (Ivanhoe Newswire) -- There's now a needle-free flu vaccine for kids that's more effective than the injectable form, according to researchers from Saint Louis University in Mo. That was the finding for children between ages 6 months and 5 years, after studying more than 8,000 kids in 16 countries. Researchers say, "We discovered that the intranasal vaccine was significantly more effective in protecting these children against influenza infection than the injectable flu shot. This is especially significant because this age group is among the most vulnerable to flu infection, and they tend to spread influenza around to other family members." Specfic findings were that the nasal spray vaccine was 55-percent more effective than the injectable vaccine in reducing influenza-like illness. Researchers add because the flu vaccine must be manufactured several months before flu season, there's sometimes a vaccine "mismatch" with the strain that's circulating. The nasal spray was found to also be better than the shot in combating such a circumstance. Researchers say, "This sort of broad protection from a live, attenuated intranasal vaccine suggests that this vaccine has properties that make it superior to the traditional flu shot."
