Pnuemonia Blues

Hi Fellow SMAers,

I'm finally home from hospital for pnuemonia.

This one snuck up on me in a way. I didn't have any colds or flus. I kept

feeling run down, my [bleeping] primary poo-poohed me until I was gasping in my

sleep, shallow breathing, waking up blue colored, etc.

My pulmo dr gave me an antibiotic that I knew wasn't working, the ER drs sent me

home against my pulmo drs wishes, then I kept coming back to the ER by ambulance

until I got admitted.

I was given IV antibiotics that gave me diahrea from hell while the dumb assed

drs told me to " just eat yogurt " .

I told them " I've been taking the acidolpholis you prescribed and eating yogurt

already! Every time I put anything in my stomach I have shit pouring out of me.

I'm dehydrating here! Give me immodium before I pass out again! " .

Eight immodium doses later I could finally eat and drink without explosive

results again.

Meanwhile I found out this whole infection might have happened because unknown

to me until then my pcas were putting unrinsed soggy nebulizer handsets away in

a drawer everyday then squirting albuterol in them and giving them to me in the

morning for weeks. So anything was growing in them while I used them

unknowingly.

Lately my days are spent trying to clear my lungs, eating, sleeping and going to

med appointments.

Thank you :)

Day by day - thank you God- I'm doing a little better bit by bit.

The cough assist and frequencer have really helped me.

Having respiratory therapists who know what they're doing makes a BIG

difference.

Years ago I hated the cough assist because it hurt to use it. But now I have

respiratory therapist who knew what they were doing and they taught me the right

way to use this - now - helpful machine.
