Guest guest
I think that as a general rule, couching the autism-thimerosal connection in larger terms like " the effects of vaccines on developmental delays " or " the disproportional influence of the pharmaceutical lobby on the American electoral system " or something like that will get more attention from the public. People who are not affected by autism or mercury-poisoning directly will have to realize that these connections have wider consequences that go beyond the interests of a few subgroups in society and can come and bite them in the foot one day too. Unfortunately, 1 in 166 is still not seen as a big deal. But it would become a different story if one thinks of ADD, ADHD, LD, OCD and so on in the same group of neurological disorders that are possible casued by a ridiculous vaccination schedule and, say, the takeover of healthcare by a rampant free market mentality that puts mercury in vaccines to preserve them because alternatives would reduce their profit margin. In 2006 congressional and 2008 presidential elections this should be made an issue that grabs the attention of the larger public and I'm afraid that focusig on autism alone might not do the trick. I hope I'm wrong. Beti
