Iowa Mumps Update

Through Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Overview:

A total of 245 confirmed, probable and suspect1 cases of mumps have been reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) as of Thursday, March 30th. Thirty-six counties are now experiencing activity. The case profile remains similar to previous reports. No outbreaks in schools or daycare centers have been reported. There have been seven cases of orchitis reported, and one case of encephalitis is being investigated.
