,

I have a few choice words I could use for AAP, but must maintain my lady-like decorum. ;-)

Yes - they are indeed actively fighting state legislation to ban thimerosal. I learned that first-hand here in RI this week.

Here's an email I sent to a few friends that day...

I was asked to present information on thimerosal today to a commission appointed by the Rhode Island Health Committee who is to determine whether or not the RI bill should move forward. The committee consists of 4 legislators and 1 State Dept. of Health bureaucrat. The woman from the Dept. of Health invited "a clinician" to attend the meeting. He turned out to be the president-elect of the RI AAP. He had negative comments on most of what I said - all of which can be backed up.

During my presentation, I stated that 1 in 6 children in the US have a developmental delay. He was disgusted with me. He said that is absolutely not the case and daringly said he'd love to see documentation on that. I was kicking myself for not having included it in the packets I provided, but will be emailing it to the meeting attendees when the minutes are released. It came from the Autism ALARM, created by - you guessed it - the AAP, among others.

It absolutely amazes me that this group whose sole purpose is caring for children, the same group that asked for the removal of thimerosal in 1999, is actively fighting to keep poison in vaccines.
