Hey Lenny, This is really good! Where are the rest of our ELECTED officials though? I don't see (IL)Durbin or Obama on this. We are asking to investigate a poison causing harm and I think we need to remind our ELECTED Congressional officials that we want them to join in on this. They may not know about it so, with the Mercury Generation March coming up and April being Autism Awareness month( are they aware that 1:166 parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles...teachers, etc. are voters) it would be nice to push this to their attention. In an effort to represent the interests of our children the A-CHAMP's (Advocates for Children’s Health affected by Mercury Poisoning) legislative team worked with Congress to pass this unprecedented legislation. The aim of the legislation is to create independent research into the Vaccine Safety Datalink – the secret government database that may hold the key to the vaccine-autism controversy. In December 2005, Senator ph Lieberman (Connecticut) listened to the concerns of parents and troubling questions brought to him by A-CHAMP. In

response Senator Lieberman consulted with his colleagues, and obtained support for the following language to be included in the Labor/HHS Appropriations Bill: To the National Institute Of Environmental Health Sciences The conference agreement includes $647,608,000 for the NationalInstitute of Environmental Health Sciences as proposed bythe House instead of $667,372,000 as proposed by the Senate. The conferees urge NIEHS to work with CDC and expert independentresearchers on research that could identify or rule out anyassociation between thimerosal exposure in pediatric vaccines andincreased rates of autism. The conferees believe that the VaccineSafety Datalink (VSD), a CDC-constructed database that follows 7million immunized children

from 1990 to present, could be helpfulin the research, especially regarding pre-2001 VSD data and post-2000 VSD data, since thimerosal was removed from most childhoodvaccines in 2001. The conferees urge NIEHS and CDC to organizea workshop by May 2006 to explore the research possibilities andscientific feasibility of such a study and report back to the Houseand Senate Appropriations Committees soon after. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To ensure that the intent of Congress is followed, a bi-partisan letter sent by Congressional leaders in the House and Senate was sent to Schwartz, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Among other very strong statements the letter says the following:"If the federal government is going to have a study whose results

will be broadly accepted, such a study cannot be led by the CDC." Yes, Lenny this was very good news. I have already read the Schafer

report 3/15/2006 7:00:39 three times, even had my wife read it just

to may sure I was not dreaming.

I was at the meeting that NIEHS provided the grant for last summer

(a workshop on thimerosal) that Lyn Redwood from safeminds and Laurd

Bono from NAA had worked SO hard to put together. WOW, could this be

the study that will finally prove to everyone we are/were right?

Thank you Lyn and Laurd I am sure there is more, but that is the two

that I know of.

Jeff:

We are right....and we already have the science. The CDC has the

science....they just covered it up. Let's hope with this type of pressure

from Congress the NIEHS will be the " good guys. "
