, I know Dominici slightly; one of his 5 kids has mental illness. WShat he desnot know is that toxivc heavy metals can cause this, just as PCP can.

Technically it *is* classified as a mental illness. This is why we

need to, as an autism group, get it out of the DSM-IV. That's the

diagnosistic guide for mental disorders. That's where you find the

official diagnosis of autism.

Exactly. It is absolutely essential for autism to be taken out of

the DSM-IV and be recognized as a neurological condition, so that

research can get better funding and parents can get their insurance

to cover essential therapies like ABA as " medically necessitated. " I

can't get my neurologist, who BTW knows nothing about autism, to

prescribe intensive ABA or chelation.

I truly believe that one day, when the human brain is fully explored

by science, there will be no such thing left as " mental illness. "

I would go a step further and call it a medical illness. Neuro is

only " of the mind " . Autism is subtypes..which will come out in the

years ahead. But what we now know, it can be GI/Neuro/Immune. That

is why there is no one standard of care that works for every child.
