He also said that these parents get discouraged because their children won't

cuddle them and shun any physical contact. You know what that is leading up to!

The fact that we are all desperate for a cure and try all these unproven things

like chelation which won't " work " because mercury doesn't cause autism.

At least that is what I would expect all that to lead to. Has in the past.

Anything Sen. Frist says can be used against him. He is ignorant about

what is wrong with our kids. I suspect a parent had a meeting with him

where the disorder was described by the parent as a " puzzle " and a

" mystery. " As many of us know the myth about children being detached

from the parents and unaffectionate is pure nonsense. I am sure if Sen.

Frist experienced intense abdominal pain he would not be hugging anyone

while experiencing it.

We will get the transcript.

By the way, in 2002, during the Homeland Security debacle Frist said

categorically that " thimerosal in vaccines does not cause autism " . As

if he knows one way or another. He must have come to this judgment in

the same way that he diagnosed Terri Schiavo by video.

In October 2004 Frist made a speech about flu vaccine in which he

described those bringing vaccine injury claims as " greedy " at least

eight times.

What is going on here is an attempt to get Frist to sponsor and support

the Combating Autism Act. The revised Act, as yet not introduced,

contains some very good language that could form the basis, with

sufficient political pressure, for honest research into the etiology of

autism, including environmental factors. The thing to watch closely is

whether the language gets changed. If Frist is involved we need to

watch very closely. If the environmental language is tampered with the

bill is next to worthless to us. With the environmental language (and

other language in there, including community oversight of

implementation) the bill is very much supporting.

With sponsors like Frist we should be skeptical of how it will be

handled.

Diedre Imus just stated on tv. that 1 in 166 children are BORN with autism. Where has she been? She is also putting most of her emphasis on cancer-household chemicals" J.
