Guest guest
Hello Alana; I'm glad you are feeling better. I, too, have struggled with kidney stones for a long time. In 1997, I had one the size of a quarter that almost cost me my kidney. They had to blow it up with a laser into 4 pieces before they could even surgically remove it. The doctor joked with me saying that if I kept it up, I could gravel my Dad's driveway in no time. Anyhow, I had another one a year later that I was able to pass on my own and then I didn't have more until March 2006 when I had another one that I passed on my own. Kidney stones are the most painful things I've ever experienced and I hope I never have a big one again. I'm not sure what causes yours but my body cannot process calcium so it gets dumped in my kidney's which forms the stones over time. I hope you continue to heal and I hope your surgery goes well if you still need to have it. I returned from the hospital yesterday afternoon and am doing pretty well. I went to the emergency room last Thursday with an obstruction in my right kidney - I've been struggling with kidney stones there for the last 2 1/2 years when they grew back quickly after being removed. This time they got really stuck. In the short-term, a nephrostomy tube has been placed in my kidney to keep it drained. I'm pretty much bed-bound until surgery on January 10th when the stones will be removed via percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Chuck, attendants and friends have been fantabulous. I am very fortunate. I'll keep you posted. Alana __________________________________________________
