Guest guest
Hi lauren, I'm tracy, and I live in cottage grove WI (just east of madison)...I'm nearby if you ever need anything. Are you involved with FSMA of WI? let me know if you aren't but would like to be. I do not have SMA...I was very close to beck, who started this list. She passed away in october...I called her my little sister even though it was by marriage to her brother. I knew her for most of her life...23 of her 28 years. feel free to email me off-list too anytime: _tstefonek@..._ (mailto:tstefonek@...) tj In a message dated 12/23/2006 11:53:13 A.M. Guest guest
hi again lauren, yes, it's families of SMA...it's nationwide...beck was vice pres of our local wis chapter. Marta Meyers is the current president. (her son has SMA) It's a very nice group of people...families of course. Everyone is welcome. Occasionally, benefit events are organized. I use to do a bike ride, but after my divorce things got pretty messed up and I was pushed away from it by my ex. But, since nobody had one last year or the year before, my husband (new) and I are considering having one of our own again. And, this will likely be with help from FSMA. The organization is also there for people to get together much like beck's SMA friends list, but for more family-ish topics. Many of the families have young children with sma. But, my hope is that we can make the organization appeal to young adults as well. Maybe you would have some suggestions. here is the national website: _http://www.fsma.org/default.htm_ (http://www.fsma.org/default.htm) you can click on local chapters and then wisconsin, but it's a very old site and doesn't have anything about current events. I thought we had a newer website, but I'll check on that. It's just a fundraising organization and another resource if you ever need advice/help...much like this list, but you can network with people who live nearby too. We also try to get together for a family picnic type thing once in a while. We are overdue for that. And, many families plan trips together, including going to the annual conference. Would you like to be part of the email list? hope that clears it up...I'm sure a lot of others on this list also belong to their local fsma too and may have more to add. I think each local chapter might be slightly different. tj In a message dated 1/2/2007 10:54:58 A.M. Central Standard Time, sweetleo03@... writes: Hi TJ! I'm not quite sure what FSMA is...
