Guest guest
Nick, I remember asking questions if anyone used this last year. Here is the website: http://www.atosmedical.com/Products/Mouth_Jaw.aspx/ I could not find the price anywhere, but it sounds expensive. Here is an e-mail to contact the company for information: info@... We are going to try to get one for Brett- as I have noticed the decrease in how wide he can open his mouth over the past year. Good luck! Kristal Mom to Brett- SMA II- 7 years old!!!!! " Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. Guest guest
Most insurance companies will dismiss peer testimonials from other SMA patients as anecdotal evidence. You can try, but it probably won't work. Remember; the insurance company is looking for reasons to NOT pay for this item. Try the Therabite manufacturer's website, here: http://www.atosmedical.se/Products/Mouth_Jaw/Clinical%20Evidence.aspx Most of what is listed is about post-surgical oral cancer rehabilitation, but you might find something of use there. If you need help getting an appeal together, feel free to call me. I'm a volunteer with SMA Support and one of my main roles in that organization is to help with insurance appeals. I might be hard to reach since I still have lots of holiday stuff to do, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can. 864-845-8816 Piedmont, SC > > > My son SMA II has been using a Therabite since Aug. he started out > with a mouth opening of approx. 13mm. Guest guest
The Therabite cost around $ 500.00 What happen was our primary ins.Keystone approved it with an authorization no. and we got the device then when the Therabite company submitted for payment the ins. comp. denied it. Now it is in review. 's secondary ins. is thru Gateway HMO Medicaid I just got a denial from them on my 2nd level grievance. They just keep you jumping through hoops. I feel this is important medically for and ins. should cover it. I have letters from a plastic surgeon, neurologist,Dr, of Physical Therapy, his primary care doc and a case manager of ventilation program RN still they are not approving device. After the beginning of year I will continue this fight. >From: " Kristal Koehler " <kkoehler47@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: Re: Has anyone used a therbite?????? >Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 10:48:42 -0600 > >Nick, >I remember asking questions if anyone used this last year. Guest guest
Hi all Therabite-Users, some days ago I received my Therabite and love it! The only problem is that I can not squeeze down the lever as much as I would like. My jaw is stronger than I am. :-) Has anyone of you found out how to use it on your own? I will write a mail to the producer to ask if there is a method to step up pressure but maybe one of you had a great idea and I do not have to ask my assistants for help anytime I use it. Have a nice day Camilla Germany > > > My son SMA II has been using a Therabite since Aug. he started out > with a mouth opening of approx. 13mm.
