have a friend staying with me who has a 2 yrs old girl and a 8 week old

boy. she has arrived from the USA as her dad is very seriously ill and so is

likely to be staying with me a number of times over the next 3 months. my

friend is worn out and stressed about her dad and it would help her time

with me if i could hold the baby. tonight we tried securing him on my lap by

using the belt on my chair. it was ok though i did worry about the belt

being too tight and affecting his breathing. least it gave her time to have

a bath and i was able to keep his pacifer/dummy in place which often stops

his crying. so any suggestions for ways to secure him better and in a way

that does not mean i am worn out after 30 mins?? then it would also be

easier for the four of us to go out.

They have lots of baby wraps/carriers/slings that would probably be useful

to you AND the mama. The Ergo carrier comes to mind first because it's easy and

safe.

thanks. how long do you find you are able to hold baby on your lap in your

wheelchair for? i had thought about baby slings and was wondering if you can

attach them to the push handles of your chair so the weight would be there

rather than pulling on my shoulders.
