Guest guest
Hey guys. My new wheelchair I got in January has died, completely. We aren't sure what happened. It was literally on one minute and five minutes later it wouldn't turn on again. All the mode and battery level bars are lit up and nothing works (forward, backward, recline, tilt). My vendor came by today and picked it up from school (it broke down in the restroom during a transfer!) and brought a loaner. I guess I have bad luck because the loaner died while the technician was adjusting the footrests for my height. They have one other loaner available and won't be able to come out until next Wednesday because they're in the south bay. I called a local wheelchair repair store with loaners and they said $250/week! Sorry, but I'm a grad student and just finished both my consulting jobs on Monday. I just haven't that money for mobility options right now. Joe has been taking the last few days off from work to push me around school and home in my manual (he's such a doll!!). I'm in the middle of final exams so he understands the necessity of doing this and has risked getting fired. Tomorrow we're going to head down to Millbrae and meet with my vendor who said they MAY be able to drop off the other loaner during the day. If that doesn't work out I'm heading over to the MDA clinic in San Fran to beg to dig through their closet. I called them a few times today and only got transferred to everyone's voicemail. I left my cell phone number, requested they call ASAP at any time of the day and that this was an urgent request. With my previous experience, I'm not sure they'll be helpful. I don't know what to do if these two options don't work tomorrow. Anyone have solutions to get me some electric power soon so my boyfriend can go back to work to support us and I can turn left half an inch to see something easier without making such a fuss? <3 Kendra
