Guest guest
Kendra - I'm so excited for you! Does it go fast? That's always the first question I ask when trying to decide on a new power chair: " How fast does it go? " Do you still have reliable transportation from your new apartment? Is it more accessible? Sorry so many questions! I'm just interested. Jenn
Guest guest
Supposedly it only goes 6.5 mph, but it feels much faster - maybe I just got used to the slow creep of my rotting old wheelchair though! LOL The new apartment is very close to transportation. We're only two blocks from a BART station and four major bus routes stop right outside our door. It'll be an extra 20 minutes to get to classes in the morning, which isn't pleasant with 8am class, but I don't have a choice in the matter anymore and I think I can deal with it. I think the new apartment is the same with accessibility. The building is putting an automatic door opener on for me to access the building. I have one here. The bathroom I can't turn around in, but wide doors and sliding doors. There are also two doors, one into the hallway and the other into my bedroom! And my bedroom is HUGE. It has two closets and one is a huge walk/roll-in that is alllllll mine! hehehe! The livingroom is very large and we have a patio/balcony and storage shed attached. The kitchen is small but I never use it anyway. I can get in and turn around, but it's not as though I'll be rumaging through the fridge or cooking on the stove that I'll need space to backup or do anything. Because it's further from campus, however, I'll be losing a student attendant who will not commute for me. That's okay though because I'll be closer to my newer attendant who is more than willing to pick up all of the hours I have available. She's certified and very reliable so I'm not complaining. <3 Kendra > > Kendra - > > I'm so excited for you! Does it go fast?
