Guest guest
, It does not keep the skin " dry " . It keeps it moisturized with the lanolin and other ingredients that help keep the skin from flaking and splitting and keeps the Ph(acidity) of the skin at the proper level. It also sets up a barrier over the skin so perspiration and moisture never touch the skin to irritate it. A baby wash cloth (purchase anywhere baby clothes are sold) is very soft and can be laundered with your other clothes. I use oatmeal/lavender soap with no preservatives. Guest guest
to pam and anyone else who isn't totally bored by my skin! saw a doctor and she felt i had a fungal infection. she gave me some *Canesten Hydrocortisone and, like many of you said, she told me to stop using wet wipes as that was keeping my skin TOO clean and so there were no of my own flora there to fight of fungal infections. she said just water would be ok. i tried ordering some of the cream you use pamela, but they were charging over $30 for postage so i am going to get a friend of mine in ohio to get it for me. cheers linda * On 8/15/06, Pamela Ortego <pamelamo@...> wrote: > > , > It does not keep the skin " dry " . Guest guest
alana gave me a great tip as i get a painful ear from lying on it. stuff a sock with a small towel to make like a fat sausage pillow, then i put it in the crook of my neck, tucked right under my ear so there is no pressure on my ear, then i have my regular pillow just above my ear so it supports the top of my head linda On 8/17/06, blueyedaze@... <blueyedaze@...> wrote: > > Speaking of skin issues, my left ear is flipping killing me. Guest guest
, Hope it all works out and your skin gets better. Probably all our skin problems are caused by a combination of factors. Any or all of the suggestions you received could help. Guest guest
I had that same ear problem. For years I had a sore on my left ear. I only sleep with my head turned to the left. Well, recently we switched to satin pillowcases and we covered the roll under my neck with a satin pillowcase (no pillow). With these two changes, the sore is complete healed. :-) For anyone the skin breakdown, xenaderm is a very good prescription cream. Guest guest
Hi friends, I remember several messages concerning what could be used to heal the breakdown of skin. Unfortunately, I deleted them. Now, I find my brother Bill needs the information. He has adult onset SMA and his head leans to the left on his shoulder most all the time. The skin is becoming raw. Would you mind E-mailing the message again concerning soltutions for skin breakdown. My E-mail is mbc543@... Thanks and Peace to You, Beth Re: Re: skin breakdown in skin fold, advice please many thanks for your very kind offer camilla. my skin problem has now healed at last :-) . i used a combination of the tips from here and found a way that seems to have worked well for me. sorry i did not reply earlier but i have labyrinthitis, an ear infection which causes dizziness. cheers linda On 8/19/06, sonnengelb12 <Ca-mil-la@...> wrote: > > Hi , > > I never had skin breaking problems but I use a cream called " Kaufmanns > Haut- und Kindercreme " for years now. > > I had a look at Google but could not find out if you can purchase it in > England too. Guest guest
Here are excerpts from the recent posts on the issue: I use a salve in a jar called Lantiseptic. Walgreens carries it or will special order it for you. I have my PAs put it on liberally after cleaning off the old each day. It has done wonders on skin in creases that used to split when rubbed or touched. I've had some success with calendula salve and something called Bag Balm (not vegan - petroleum and lanolin). Bag balm is available from garden centers or animal feed stores. It's used to keep cows udders soft. Soft, non-drying soaps and a generous coating of 'barrier' cream or ointment are better. If you MUST disinfect, Bactine is better than regular antiseptics, I don't know why. To heal, lanolin. To maintain, petrolatum. To find products with these ingredients in your area, search the net or call a pharmacist. I do is use an everyday face cloth suds up by Safeguard bar soap that is then pat-dried. Hope that helps.
