To everyone:

Here is a true story, unfolding as we speak. I won’t use real names of my

friends.

My best friend “Lily” has a good friend named “Rosy.” Rosy’s mom ended up in

the ICU a few days before Christmas and has been there ever since. She has

chronic asthma, pneumonia, due to the pneumonia, one lung has collapsed and they

found that the other lung has a hole in it. Rosy is 25 and has moderate/severe

Cerebral Palsy and uses a scooter. She can walk a little bit, but is very

stiff. Her sister is only 8.

These two girls have been kept in the dark about the prognosis of their mom’s

condition. Last night, the doctors told them that the mom has a 30% chance of

surviving. Rosy called my best friend Lily, crying hysterically. All these

days, she was convinced her mom would be going home next week.

Now, my best friend’s mom tried to calm her down and console her, telling her

to pray and hope for the best. Later, she told my best friend that it would

have been better for Rosy to die first, and not her mom, because Rosy was so

close and dependent on her mom. The girls have a father, but the mom was

closest to them. Now my best friend and I wonder. Is she right? Because this

could happen to her and me.

I hope I am not depressing anyone by this situation. But I’d like to know

your opinions on this?

And please keep that woman in your prayers.

God Bless,

~Meg.

I'll be interested to read others' responses to this. I worry about it. I worry

about what will happen to h if something happens to me before she's old

enough to be secure with attendant care. My mother does some of her daily care,

but nothing near crisis mode.

That being said, I wouldn't want her to go before me. That's not the way it's

supposed to work and I can't imagine my world being whole without h in it.

Hugs
