Guest guest
Thank you Vivian it was very interesting looking at these different websites. I realised that we are lucky in Australia in some ways because PCA support is not means tested. I studied very hard and now earn a reasonable income and I'm lucky that this doesn't affect my eligibility for attendant support. I guess not every system is perfect but some are clearly better than others. What is the address for anna's web site? Thanks again 24 hr support Hi , Here are some official links that might help you in your fight to getting australia to recognise that there is a need to having 24hour support. Quay has her own website about her personal assistant needs, so I would certainly have a look at that site. http://www.direct.gov.uk/DisabledPeople/fs/en http://www.dpscotland.org.uk/ http://www.ilf.org.uk/home/index.html http://www.ncil.org.uk/ http://www.hants.gov.uk/socservs/directpayments/ These sites will give you all the ammunition you need for a good clean fight. They are a variety of voluntary organisations run by people with disabilities and other are government sites. I dont personally work but do voluntary work and outdoor pursuits (http://www.trailo.org/ a great sport for people with SMA as it is brains not braun involved.) What they take into account is your partners earnings as well as your own but (means testing is there favourite phrase.) They will also consider any savings and pension funds that are in use etc. My contributions are fairly minimal. Well, I hope this helps, if you need any further help please do get in touch. All the best Vivien > > Thank you and Vivian, To people who receive 24-hour PCA support, does > the government put any restrictions on how many hours you can work and how > much income and savings you have? Guest guest
, In the U.S. it's different in every state. Here's a link about California public benefits with an emphasis on employment. It is possible to get 24-hr. care via Medicaid waivers though it's quite difficult. http://www.disabilitybenefits101.org/ Alana

Guest guest
Medicare does not cover custodial care. They will cover a home health aide to assist with bathing if you have a skilled home health service (nursing, PT, OT, ST).
