Guest guest
I participated in the Mother's book and it turned out to be a wonderful book and a great blessing! Please contact Judy and let her know if you want to submit to this book. > > From: hcf67@... > Date: 2006/01/03 Tue PM 01:15:57 EST > hcf67@... > Subject: fathers book > > I have read the book Autism Heartfelt Thoughts from Mothers. It is a must read book for everyone. Judy is taking submissions for her new Book Autism Heartfelt Thoughts from Fathers. > > > Heidi Fernandez > > Parent and Advocate > " Knowledge is Power " > > The Autism~Heartfelt Thoughts from Mothers book created such a huge response; I had many Dads’ wanting their turn! (you can check out the mothers book at www.AutismThoughts.com, Amazon and & Noble stores) Also, there is a radio interview at www.disabilitynewsradio.com click on Past Shows, Mother's Day May 8th. > > Father's Book Details: > The format will be the same as the Mother's book, fairly simple, yet heartfelt and sincere. It will be something you can pick up and read a little at a time and something you would want to give to people you know to help them better understand you as a Father of a child with autism. > > The format is as follows: > I will only use first names. I will list the state (or country) you are from. You may submit contact information such as email or phone number – this is Optional. > Each Father and child will have at least two full pages. > I would like black and white photos of you and your child (you may submit color but it will print in black and white). Please submit 1 to 3 photos of just you and your child with autism. The photos must be clear and I will make every effort to use all photos you submit. They can be emailed (digital - 300 dpi) or a print copy. If you would like your print photos returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and I will return your photos. Photos can be portrait style, or simply you and your child engaged in an everyday activity, or both. Please indicate your child’s age in the pictures. I would also like to list what age your child was diagnosed. > Then I would like your thoughts on the following topics: (I would prefer that you answer all of these but if you only want to answer just one or two that is okay too) > #1: Biggest Challenge(s) > You may write about one challenge in a paragraph format or you may write a list of several, for example: ‘fighting for appropriate services’, ‘not understanding my child’s fears’, ‘finding quality care-providers’, or simply relate how you feel. > Be honest. Come from your heart. This is your opportunity to allow others to know what being the Father of a child with autism really feels like. > #2: Greatest Blessing(s) > Again, you may write a paragraph or a list. For example, " I am often touched by how many strangers have opened their hearts to help my daughter and me over the years. For this I know we have been blessed and I am forever grateful. " > #3: Words of Wisdom > Briefly describe any helpful, words of wisdom-type thoughts you have for other fathers or even family and friends. For example: ‘what to say to other dads when you spot another child with autism at the park’ or ‘don’t be afraid to ask for help!’ You may even share something someone else has told you that is helpful and/or inspiring. > I will include a list of your favorite books, articles, organizations, and website references, so please submit those also. > In return for your contribution you will receive two (2) free copies of Autism ~ Heartfelt Thoughts from Fathers and additional copies at a significant discount off the retail price. A portion of the proceeds on my end will go to the lifelong care I now face with my daughter (who is 21 yrs) transitioning into adulthood. We plan to open a day program for young adults with autism. > Feel free to copy this email to pass along to other fathers you think may be interested in contributing! > If you are interested, please email me and I will send you a Permission Release Form. > I look forward to having you and your child included in this book! If you have any questions and/or suggestions, please let me know! > Judy > H. I love someone with autism!
