Beckham's son released

LAURA ROBERTS

DAVID Beckham's son Romeo has been released from hospital after

suffering convulsions, it emerged yesterday.

The three-year-old was readmitted to Madrid's La Paz hospital on

Tuesday for the second time in less than a week.

Romeo was first taken to hospital on Saturday after suffering from

convulsions for the second time in two months, but was released two

hours later. He was readmitted after suffering the same problem

three days later.

Beckham flew to join the England squad in Manchester last night,

while the rest of his family, including Romeo, will fly to the UK

today. Beckham was allowed to miss England's initial preparations

for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Austria to be with his

son and will resume training this morning.

Last July, Romeo was taken to hospital near the family's

Hertfordshire home after having convulsions. Febrile convulsions, or

fits, are common in children up to the age of five, with one in 20

at risk. The trigger is rapidly rising body temperature, usually

from an infection.
