Offit to be presenter at AAP Annual Conference & Exhibition Oct 8, 2005

Since Offit's name has come up in a number of emails today, I

thought some of you may be interested to know that Dr. Offit will be a

presenter at the AAP Annual Convention on October 8, 2005. Given the

AAP's strident endorsement of Thimerosal-containing vaccines in its

recent statement opposing the N.Y. bill limiting Thimerosal in vaccines

(S. 2707), the demonstration outside the AAP convention on October 8

(following the march and rally on Oct. 7) might be a good time and

place to stand with other parents who will be rallying to advance the

interests of their children and expressing their views about the AAP's

turnabout on the Thimerosal issue (compare their 1999 statement on

Thimerosal with their 2005 statement).

A group of more than 50 organizations is organizing or supporting the

rally and demonstration. Hotel rooms are reserved, but going fast.
