Angie I have the same as you do. The technical name is Migraine aura

without headache. I get it sometimes, it starts as a fuzzy ziggy spot in my

lower

vision. It gradually works to the top and disappears. I was referredto an

Optomoligist because of seeing this spot. Once in a while I will get this half

moon shaped flash out the corner of eye. He told me if you see that then

little white like flies to call him immediately or go to the ER .It could be a

torn retina. Aura means eyes or sight. There is nothing they do for aura

migraine.

when my vision started getting weird. It's hard to explain...a sort

of silvery patchy type pattern obstructing parts of my vision. This

happened about twice before over the last few years but this time it

was worse. I called and told him I was going to the ER and

have it checked out (I work in a hospital for whose of you who don't

know). I told him I'd call him with a report. It was worrisome

since I have a history of a blood clot in my lung which puts me at a

higher risk for another clot).

So, they started a clot workup (blood workup and CT/head). The CT

was negative (thank goodness) and blood work was pretty ok (INR was

pretty high but no biggie-I will adjust my coumadin dosage). My

blood pressure was pretty high (179/91) even though I'm already on a

BP med. So the MD recommended a visit to the eye doctor. I will

see my internal medicine doc too about the BP. I think it had

something to do with the high BP.

So, weird, huh?

Lori

P.S. joined me shorted after I called him. I felt happy and

relieved to see him.

I had the same or very similar thing - for me it seems to occur when watching

TV or on the computer after a high dose of caffine (coke, chocolate). It'd be

a pin prick of light, off to one side, that slowly makes itself bigger,

wigglier and bright, silver or pastels colours. It doesn't block out my

center vision, but wherever it is I cannot see past it. There's no pain and

may last anywhere from two to twenty minutes. My neurologist said I suffered

through a " visual migraine. "

Ask about it and see if it's relative to your circumstance.

Hi, Lori

I've heard that people can have migraine auras without having a migraine.

I see anything from colored spots to mauvy flickering rings that I can't see

through and they last for up to 20 seconds. I was told by a

Neuro-Opthamologist that they were " text book " . Not unusual at all.

It can be very scary when it first happens!!

Go see an Optometrist just to be on the safe side though.

Take care

Bye for now
