I think you just need an attorney to finalize and look over the papers. You

can fill out and write all that stuff on your own if you want. They sell kits

for it. Like a living will is rather basic (you can download them of most

state and hospital sites) and if you feel comfortable understanding the legal

language you really just need a lawyer to witness you sign it. Now to get them

to do that may be costly but you can go other places to explain the papers

and not fork more money to a lawyer.

The Hospital Social Worker knows how to write the stuff up or answer my

questions about all the stuff but is free or covered by insurance unlike a

lawyer. My Rehab doctor suggested I go to them because they handle it all the

time

and help people all the time figure out what to do. They are giving me the

papers.

Hopefully my papers will say what I want and don't want so the POA wont have

much to decide because it's written down. They can't go against what you

written down as a legal document. Really I don't trust anyone 180% but me! :) A

few maybe 90% so it's best I write down as much as I can.

Well, my POA is just for medical not guardian/$ so I'm sure the hospital has

that stuff to. I can get the papers on a government site but I still want to

talk face to face with someone.

,

THERes a form called The Five Wishes, and is legal in some stattes to use as

an advanced directive. I think it was a great tool to help figure out

everythingt. Your social worker should be able to get u a copy. i think its

also

avail on the web somewhree. the social worker maybe able to tell u about POA,

LW, MPOA...and the differences between them and what is legally binding in ur

state but a lawyer must draw them up. can be costly. sorry for all the typos,

my hand is weak today.
