Guest guest
You're paranoid! No, seriously, you're completely normal for a parent. I'm doing the same thing with my 9 month old. He's walking, for heaven's sake! But I still find reasons to worry. When your family has been touched by life threatening conditions, you naturally become overly cautious and watchful. My son has had tremors of the tongue too at certain points. It can be completely normal. - At 10:27 PM 6/25/2004 -0500, you wrote: >I have Type II SMA. > >My wife and I did genetic counseling and she is not a carrier of the SMA gene. > >Our son is as healthy as can be at 5 months. Olivia's tongue used to do the same thing, especially when she was learning new things and concentrating. She is 9 months old, crawling like a pro, pulling herself up in her crib and is SO strong. I am certain he is just fine. =) We're parents now, we're supposed to be paranoid! *Amy* Mother to Caitlyn Mae - born to heaven 3/26/98 Olivia Isabelle - born to earth 9/18/03 Wife to Will 11/03/95 http://community.webshots.com/user/blueyedaze
Guest guest
You may be paranoid but that's normal for a parent. I'm pretty sure my normal kids had tongue tremors at certain ages too. We knew Bernie would be affected before he showed symptoms (because we lost another child to SMA) and it was the finger tremors that showed first - way before the onset of weakness, by abut 6 months. I recall looking for tongue tremors but saw none. Bettylou
Guest guest
Hi we have talked before Oliver is now 8 months and doing really well he was standing and nearly crawling at about 3/4 months he is very strong and again when with Ian on the bed even at a few weeks old could lift Ians arm up and move it, the thing with the tongue is normal and if your wife is not a carrier he will not have sma at all, this is what we where told by a specialist, both parents have to carry the gene. Oliver is not crawling yet but having a good go but he is trying to walk by himself and he is very forward he is talking now my mummy, my daddy, heya that type of thing and he watches and picks things up quickly, he has worked out to use the control on Ians chair to open and close the door, he undoes Ians lace's on his shoes. I don't think your worry is un founded I still do even though I know Oliver has been given the all clear it's being a parent. There are picks of oliver on the sma site do you have any of your family I think there are a few of all of us maybe we can compar notes and picks see how each of the babys grow up.
