Guest guest
Thanks Doug, now I've got Rock and Roll Fantasy stuck in my head! LOL In the late 80's I saw the Jeff Healy Band at a local college. They played in the gymnasium and it was general admission, so it was one of the most accessible events I have ever been to. It was definitely not a wild time but he put on a great, memorable show. There have been a few shows I really wanted to see recently but they were in clubs I just couldn't get into. Tom First Concert Experience While on the topic of music, do you all remember your first concert? Good? Bad? How was it from a accessibility standpoint? Mine was Bad Company, probably late to mid 70's (whenever Rock and Roll Fantasy was out, as that was my fav song at the moment LOL). My sister had one of those customized vans with shag carpeting throughout that was popular at the time, and boy did I think I was cool. These guys just picked me up chair and all, and off we went in a haze of reefer smoke. I was in total awe of everything I saw that day, cause I was raised in a born again Christian home, and we just didn't do those things. My old man would've freaked if he had known LOL. Oh about accessibility, in the 70's pratically non-existant. I had to go in thru the basement, then had to lifted out of my chair, carried down the stairs to our seats (hey at least I got to sit with everyone else!!). I was happy tho, I was at a CONCERT!! Guest guest
My 1st concert was the Rolling Stones' Tattoo You Tour in 1981 at Candlestick Park. I learned it was very easy to sneak in a 5th of Jack under a wheelchair cushion. Mick and the boys stood only a half inch high, but they made up for it in volume. The seating was fine except for the puking boys in front of us.
Guest guest
in a really freaking big stadium with stadium/festival seating. I couldn't see a thing over the crowd on the floor. But then this really nice stage hand guy carried me up to a reserved section in the bleachers. At the end of the show he brought me guitar picks and a drumstick. Guest guest
Oh, crud. I just realized the first concert I went to wasn't . I actually went to see Merle Haggard *barf* with my mom and dad first. How embarrassing! -- Jenn Malatesta
Guest guest
Hi Doug My first concert was Toyah - pink or orange haired punk - in the very early 80's. It was at Sheffield City Hall and my Dad sat me on the back of one of the seats so I could see. I didn't need any special access as I could sit on a seat then and my dad could carry me. My mum and sister went too, it was a family concert. Sue > While on the topic of music, do you all remember your first concert? Good? Bad? How was it from a accessibility standpoint?
