I agree with you here, sister Sue! It's such a waste of energy to be so

negative. I guess that person's parents never taught them that, " if you don't

have anything nice to say...... "

I don't know how old he/she is. They may have told me when the signed up but

some just say " I have SMA and want to meet friends with SMA. " I only

unsubscribed DB because he stated a desire to go. I didn't read the postings

about him going an hour or so a go. He had time to go on his own but other

members felt targeted so I removed DB.

If DB had not stated the desire to go I would have privately emailed DB to

talk over list rules a conduct. But since DBs only post (as I recall) was

this long negative flame I didn't feel too guilty for booting DB. Also, by

not just unsubscribing himself I feel he just wanted to watch the reaction of

members. I see this happen on lists (SOMETIMES even ours!) where the hidden

motive is to start a fight or get attention. I can handle this if that member

normally contributes meaningful posts. But DB has not and most of his post

was very rude! Age shouldn't matter. Even teens need to be respectful!

If DB wants to rejoin he can (but he'll be watched closely and will be his

last chace)

(and all) - if my information is correct, DB is 13 years old. This

may simply have been teenage stress showing. Not that I suggest you should

put him back on - I simply wanted to give people a frame of reference for

judging his verbal explosion.

LOL! No, I was more leaning towards not approaching others simply because

they're in a wheelchair. I just woke up when I read/responded, so I

should've said I agreed with one thing he said. ;) And to be honest, I have

encounted a few disabled people who do piss and moan about being disabled

(not you in the least).

Maybe the feedback will help him/her in some way.

Yep.

I just looked and He/She hasn#t actually left yet, I think

they're just enjoying the attention their message created.

It#s the last I say on this subject.

Boy, he was very articulate for only being 13, actually smart even though I

don¹t think his style or msg was smart... just the fact he¹s thinking about

how parents should raise kids etc.... I don¹t know, are you sure he¹s 13??

He is the one who kept asking for ways to get *strong*... and said something

like his parents told him he could get stronger if he tried. If that's true,

his family doesn't seem to get SMA. That could be why he was a bit bitter.

It's hard to go through physical changes (SMA & Puberty) if your family

blames you for being disabled. I knew a boy who had cp and was made to walk

(fall more like it) because his family said he could walk if he wanted. Or a

boy with MD who couldn't eat all his dinner cuz his step dad wouldn't cut his

meat for him. Both had a harder time adjusting to life and lashed out.

Hmm well I remember pondering at age 7 why I was alive & what was my purpose.

Was life all a dream? Maybe we are all dolls to some giant boy in the sky?

But I didn't tell anyone this at the time:) So, I guess he could be 14...

I checked my records and that was 14, not 13. I don't have any reason to

doubt the source. I know plenty of articulate 14 year olds (for example MJ,

yes she's 15, I know) - and his attitude did seem kind of like he was
