Playboy doesn't force women to pose or do real " porn " stuff. They don't use underage girls. I cant say playboy is that " bad " ......i do wish they would do more with different body types (playboy is strict on breasts size...age..and stuff) to show beauty in all women.... If anything women's beauty fashion magazines do more harm......women read what's " In " how they should act, dress, shave, eat, date, dress, see how " fat " they are.....they are very superficial.... Very few straight women buy playboy....I mean most men just jerk of with playboy...not like they thinking too much;o) and very few men end up with a centerfold! Now other mags are more negative to women.....

Goddess good for your title yes, but go as far as calling oneself a goddess could be misleading to some. Just my two sense is all. Take Care, Cody Namesnik codemann@... Calling all " Gimp Goddesses " ! Hey Gang! I'm working on a project/book which explores and attempts to define today's woman with a disability.....the Gimp Goddess. As you can see, the " label " that I've chosen to represent disabled women who are living active and successful lives might not be politically correct. I didn't intend it to be. Instead, I want it to be brutally honest, informative, enlightening, entertaining......and FUNNY! I want to let people know that the Gimp Goddess of today holds a job (or two), lives away from Mom and Dad (often far, far away), is married and raising a family and house full of pets, and still finds time for hobbies and volunteer work........eventhough, she might not be able to feed herself, wipe her own butt, or put on her own mascara. Still, the Gimp Goddess is capable and can get ANYTHING she wants done. But, I want to hear from you guys....err, I mean Goddesses. How do you define a Gimp Goddess? What makes us Goddesses? Guest guest
I actually love being referred to as a GODDESS. ive never even thought of it being condescending, but rather empowering. I think it encompasses the whole being of a woman.....now if it were " princess " , thats a bit condescending in my opinion....im sure we all have our definitions.....i think sometimes disabled need to shock people a bit w/ how we define ourselves. i have a tight, low cut " PLAYBOY " t-shirt that i love to wear out. even if i may think the magazine is degrading to women in a " PC " way, i dont take myself so seriously, and i get a bigger kick outta of the glances i get when i wear it, cause people usually dont idealize us as the typical sex symbol, even though we can be just as sexy as any able person. ---------------------------------

Guest guest
: Considering the way that most Americans view women with disabilities, calling us " wankers " is a step up! Vicki
Guest guest
: I agree that a degree of shock is necessary to rattle society's cage. Our mere presence as active community participants raises eyebrows on a daily basis. This does, indeed, make us strong women. Not only can we (and have we) transcend our physical, disability-related, limitations but also we are able to overcome societal attitudinal barriers. Doing this does show that we are empowered. Guest guest
That sounds like a fantastic idea. As I was reading through the massive number of emails (I don't have internet access so every few days adds up), I was thinking how it would be cool if a photographer made a book along the lines you were speaking of. Sort of like the woman (can't remember her name) who photographed herself and other women who had mastectomies. To show that different is fascinating and beautiful. I have no problems with the words Goddess or Gimp, as they're kind of paradoxical in a way. The spiritual and the mundane physicality of humans. It's wonderful to accept my odd figure as sexy, I have a playboy bunny shirt too. And black vinyl and see through stuff It's really good to hear disabled people open about their sexuality, as so much emphasis is placed on body image and who is attractive. A friend of mine, when she met me, was struck by my very thin hands, and wanted to photograph them. It's fantastic to take over something you may first think of as abnormal, and put it in a context that lets you show how beautiful it is. I have a tattoo and want alot more ... I think part of my urge to do this was maybe not to shock, but just to take responsibility for my body, I've thought of getting my hands and legs (the affected parts) tattooed. Rather than dismiss my body as something controlled by wasting, I want to accentuate and reclaim it. I've heard alot about tattooes on this list, does anybody feel this way about it? I hope that makes sense, please keep posted on how the book goes ... Kim >But, I want to hear from you guys....err, I mean Goddesses. How do you >define >a Gimp Goddess? What makes us Goddesses? Guest guest
I must say a " Gimp Goddess " to me would mean: A woman who has a good head on their shoulders, but it may tip over if you bump her the wrong way. Someone who's hair & nails are noticed b4 the wheelchair or tubes & machines. Someone who's smile is one with self respect and dignity. Her love to last that God has given her to represent the love she has for others. Her beautiful dreamy eyes that have only been able to have been looked through by her. Visions only she can see. A Gimp Goddess would also love for people to see her as her. Not just a Goddess & not just a Gimp but rather a Gimp Goddess! ~jodi & MM
