Guest guest
I just sent Unlocking Autism a check towards buying ad space for their flyers in newspapers. I wanted to buy one in the New Hampshire paper but it costs $2,200 for a half page in a small market paper. If we could all send $100 to UA to help out with this, we could spread the word all over the country and most of us would never miss the $100. If you want to help, send donations to Unlocking Autism, PO Box 15388, Baton Rouge, LA 70895. They also take donations at their website www.unlockingautism.org
Guest guest
That's a great idea. I just got a new website client. When my first check comes, I will send $100 to UA too!! I would LOVE to see ads on the metrorail trains that run into DC!!!!! Donate to UA for Publicity > I just sent Unlocking Autism a check towards buying ad space for > their flyers in newspapers. Don't we want to hit the more conversative areas? is this the best way to spend $2,200? (just asking) Also- making a statement like " most of us would never miss the $100 " is borderline offensive to people who don't have the money. I think already some people feel badly because they couldn't buy a bunch of EOH's because they had to pay their morgage or rent. It's not always spending money that is important and I want to make sure everyone knows that. Doing things like calling, faxing and emailing are also HUGE contributions and most of the time, are free (or at least don't cost anything extra). thanks-
Guest guest
, I agree that not everyone can contribute the same - in time or money! But if people can give, even $10 it will still help the cause in getting our message out there. I have talked to a bunch of people since the NYT ad came out and they all saw it, all over the US - most aren't even "in autism" so it was big splash indeed. Where the ads go is a topic for discussion, i guess, but I know has the saavy and experience to figure out where they should go, so I will leave it up to her. Holly, not one for blind faith -- until proven. Re: Donate to UA for Publicity I just sent Unlocking Autism a check towards buying ad space for their flyers in newspapers. Guest guest
I hope nobody would take food off the table to chip in to this. I talked to about it and she has a plan that sounds very well thought out to me. I might not see the ads in my local paper but that's OK, I trust her judgement. $100 is only two cartons of cigarettes in some places. Also, it's not like your boss at work keeping track of the money they bleed out of you for the United Way. Anything helps. > I just sent Unlocking Autism a check towards buying ad space for > their flyers in newspapers. Guest guest
It would seem on face value that we wouldn't need to push so hard in the "liberal" areas of the country but we do. When you look for example at the co-sponsors on 881 you will find 15 Democrats out of the 35 Co-sponsors. The fact that there are still vaccines with high amounts of mercury in them needs to go out in all areas of the country one way or another from flyers to billboards. Remember that you are reaching out to parents through this campaign, as well as calling on the President and Congress to do something. They might not know anything about giving children mercury via a flu shot...and we want the ones in the blue states to know just as much about it as the red states...right? Plus it gives the blue states something to rant about and opens public debate wide open! And the more that we educate the general public, and they become that this is an issue and there is something to it, the more we can point them to EOH. We have to build the issue outside of the box. We have a variety of different ways that everyone can participate because this is a people's push. That is why we have an idea to go spend $10 and get 2 reams of paper and pass those out or help raise money for a billboard to reach the masses. Every person that you educate is one more person that you reached...no matter what the scale. If donations come in without any specifications, we are lumping them into a pool. We have a priority list of cities that we would like to see ads or billboards in as soon as possible. Keep rattling those cages...tomorrow we turn our attention to Congress again. No reason for 881 to stay stuck at 35 much longer as hard as you all hammer! I guess what i meant is- if you have limited resources, wouldn't you try to get the best " bang for your buck " ? (and i think you said you are working on that anyway). I don't understand why Liberal means Democratic. Long Island is a liberal area- but highly republican. NYC is liberal- but democratic. I'm thinking New Hamspire is a small state, with very few votes in the house, and isn't Leahy from that area- and he supports us. Maybe that's Vermont. well, i'm sure he has some influence on them. Guest guest
NH doesn't have many votes but we do have the dishonor of having Judd Gregg to represent us. So, ads that will help his supporters realize how he helps Frist to harm children would be useful. > > It would seem on face value that we wouldn't need to push so hard in the > " liberal " areas of the country but we do.
