Guest guest
Hi Everyone, well I'm NOT in a good mood! I wanted to go outside for a walk today but it was too hot here in Michigan (90 degrees with high humidity) so I sat inside thinking about how fat I'm gonna get because I can't exercise. I see my Dr. on Thursday and I will ask her if I can walk on my treadmill when it's too hot outside, she had better say yes. I have a bladder infection from the stupid catheter which probably caused my back to hurt so bad that I wanted to SCREAM! My incision is also infected and it's not getting any better. It's infected at the lowest part of the incision and it's in a skin fold so it's hard to clean and keep dry. The Dr. (not my Dr.) told me to clean it with hydrogen peroxide and water so I've been doing that but it's still red. The Dr. also told me to take 3 Motrins every 6 hrs for my back pain which I did for 3 days but I stopped cuz I don't like taking that much Motrin. My back is better but it still hurts. Ok, I'm done whining, Jen
Guest guest
Hi Jen, Sorry to hear that you aren't a happy camper. I wouldn't go for a walk in that terrible heat. Better get into see that Dr. so he can fix up your bladder infection as well as the infected incision. Don't blame you for not wanting to take so many pain killers, I wouldn't like that either. I don't blame you for whining, Take care, tomorrow is a new day, Hugs, Kerry Hi Everyone, well I'm NOT in a good mood! Guest guest
Hang in there, Jen! It can only get better from here, right? I don't see why you couldn't walk on your treadmill - are you allowed to do anything else - maybe stretching/yoga or seated upper body work? That is too bad about the incision not to mention the bladder infection. I had the worst back pain after my daughter was born - I think part of it comes from when you're under anesthetic (or you have an epidural) the doctors are probably rougher with your body than if you were awake/able to feel what they're doing - and since you can't feel anything to complain they don't know how roughly they're moving you around. I swear, after giving birth my lower back/hip area literally felt like my feet were pointing in the opposite direction. Ive always had lower back/hip/SI joint issues, though. Hang in there! Be careful with tendinitis. It takes awhile to heal. My dog (ok it is a dog not a human had tendinitis and she was out from competing (on leash walking) for 2 months. Last Thursday March 11th it actually felt worse...every step I took hurt. I forced myself to play volleyball though, so that I could get some exercise...it KILLED! I was able to play but if it had hurt any more, I wouldn't have been able to. At the Dr. office, the resident told me that I have tendinitis (nothing new - my podiatrist told me the same thing,) he said he could put me in a boot so that I could rest it for a while. Well, that's not realistic for me because I wouldn't be able to drive (it's my right foot) and I wouldn't be able to interpret at the college (I have to walk a decent distance too and from the parking lot and to and from the classes - great for exercise, not so much for my sore ankle!) I didn't want to have to stop working (I could still interpret Dr. appt and at the hospital, if I could get a ride) or stop playing volleyball (right now it's my only exercise!) When the other "lead" Orthopedist came in, he told me that I could go for P.T. (physical therapy) and that I could get a flare for my shoe (orthodic that is attached to the outside of the shoe I wear the most in order to relieve stress on my tendons.) I asked him if I could keep playing volleyball and he said "yes, why not!" I REALLY need to get rid of the pain and swelling in my ankle because I signed up to walk in a 5K to benefit the Detroit Association of the Deaf Women's softball team for a national tournament in Oregon August 2010. The walk in on Saturday May 22 but I want to start training for it now. I've been away from walking a long time because of problems with my feet (bunions, bursitis, tendinitis) so I wanted to follow about.com's 5K walk training schedule so that I won't injure myself during the walk. PLUS I want to, need to, HAVE TO start exercising again! I dropped off my shoe today (I chose a tennis shoe because I can wear it to work and to play volleyball in,) they said it will be about a week or maybe less before it's ready. I hope it's ready by Wednesday so that I can wear it when I play volleyball. I skipped volleyball tonight because my ankle was so sore from last week that I thought that it would be a good idea to rest it. Now for the other reasons I've been MIA on here. I'm doing an online study group that I plan to work on during the weekends and during spring break. Unfortunatley my computer died, or rather it wouldn't start. I found out that the power supply went bad. They fixed that and told me that I didn't have enough memory to run windows XP efficiently so they gave me 256k more YAH ME! So then I brought my computer back home and I couldn't get on the internet!! Called my provider, Bright House. I had to wait until Friday for them to come out and fix the problem (I had it plugged into the internet port but that port doesn't work so they plugged it into another port on my computer) so then it worked until the next day (this past Saturday) when all of a sudden the internet stopped working....because of a problem with Bright House's internet. Then it worked until last night so I called to have Bright House come out next Friday....luckily for me I re-checked my connections and found that the plug I used for my modem (it's a new surge protector) was loose, so I changed plugs now it WORKS! Ok if the above wasn't enough for me, I started having muscle cramps in my arms on Monday (3/8) which at first I thought it was from playing volleyball. So I tried the following - heating pad, hot bath and Icy Hot but I was in a lot of pain and it wasn't going away. I remembered that I'm taking a "statin" drug to lower my cholesterol, I looked at it's side effects and it said it can cause muscle pain. I did some online research and it said that in some people "statins" can cause muscle cells/tissue to break down....I'm like WHAT THE HECK???? So I called my Dr. and she told me to stop taking the medication.. .duh I would have stopped taking it anyway. The prescription she gave me was a low dose to so I hate to think how much pain I would have been in if I'd taken a higher dose, SCARY! The stopped taking the medication on Thursday and the pain has slowly gone away. My right arm still hurts but not as bad, so hopefully I will be pain free soon!Sorry this is so LONG but hey I've had a lot of DRAMA in my lfie recently.UGH, Jen

Guest guest
Thanks Judy, I hope it gets better too! I actually started swimming again this Fall because of my bad feet which is where I hurt my ankle. Swimming would only make my ankle hurt more because I would be using it while I kicked.
