Guest guest
Hi , Sorry you are having such a hard time getting proper care for Mike. Could you send your mom and sister to my house next???? (sitting at the computer with piles all around) Thanks, virus alert, & Mike update (long) Good Morning Everyone! First, thanks to everyone who has sent their support and encouragement--I needed it so much. I am posting this on the site as my e-mail is 'sick' again. Hopefully, a computer whiz will come fix it, as I don't know why I keep getting viruses with 2 virus protectors. If anyone got something from me, it was not intentional. Gail, you are absolutely right about how great case managers we become. I case managed prenatal patients for years and never worked this hard-even when we had cutbacks and my caseload doubled one year. I am very organized at work, but not at home. So I am fortunate to have an obsessive (in denial) mom and sister who have been donating their free time to my house for the last week. The troops are coming today again. It is their support that is so valuable-they crack the whip, keep me going, and 'make' me throw things that are useless (they are good for my hoarding!). In the last few years, this place has really gotten out of hand. So I am off work temporarily and my house is getting a shake down!!! I know I will feel so much better when it is done, and then I won't spend hours searching for important documents. Mike is still in the hospital-I went for my hour a day visit last nite, and he was in an 'ugly' mood. I am not sure what is going on. I am so angry at the way things are done and ALLOWED. Mike was admitted Sat. nite; we all knew he needed to be started back on an anti-psychotic. Well, that wasn't done until Monday eve. as the 'attending' doctor didn't see him till Monday morning. Now by law, I can only admit him for 7 days and then have to get a court order. Hum...we wasted almost 2 days on the weekend. Now he hasn't been seen by an attending since Wednesday because of the holiday-and won't see her until Monday. There goes 4 more days. And funny the insurance company usually only authorizes 7 days...but when the attending doesn't see him; not much is done. Meds are not changed, and he is not being 'treated' actively. But I was told that he could only be there 7 days because it is an acute unit, and since he needed more time to get stabilized, I needed to think about the 'state mental institution' for kids. Does this make sense?? Am I so overwhelmed that I am dreaming the obsenity of this?? I am ready when I get that call (any day) that he is fine and can go home and to partial care---HE HASN'T HAD HIS 7 DAYS. He basically was being babysat over the holidays. UGH!!!!! Meanwhile, I can't speak to the doc about his progress or lack of it--'covering docs' tell me I have to speak with the attending when she gets back. I am going to be a little LOUD about this one. Thanks for letting me vent. Unless I have lost it this is absurd. UGH!! in NJ who is fuming... You may subscribe to the Parents of Adults with OCD List at parentsofadultswithOCD-subscribe .
