Try words along the lines of - fitness program, nutrition plan, way of

life, healthy eating, bodybuilding nutrition, fueling workouts, active

lifestyle.

You're right, diet is kind of a bad description. :-)

Felicity, you've got a lot of suggestions already....but wanted to add

my two cents worth. Everyone at work thinks I'm a bit *freakish* when

it comes to my 'diet' since it is SO healthy. Everyday someone

says " You are so healthy, your lunch looks so healthy " blah blah

blah. My response now is " Yes, I need it to fuel my workouts " . End of

story.

I'm lucky. I work with a buddist drag queen. My eating habits are secondary in

the water cooler

fodder. There are four women on our management team. One is an Ironman

triathelete. She's my

favorite go out to lunch partner. Our boss is full of sabotage and elective

surgeries. Then

there's #2, she wants to be like me and the triathelete. So we tend to rule in

the going out to

lunch debate. We don't allow chinese or old school mexican. We do allow

italian, my place with

the seared ahi, steak houses and places with clean salads. It's actually the

best I've had it in

years for that sort of stuff.

What did I say to you when it came up in conversation? I don't remember.

I think I say:

I follow a plan for nutrition and exercise

I've changed how I eat; instead of waiting until I'm hungry and grabbing

food, I now eat 5-6 small meals a day

I've started eating

Diet is such a dirty word isn't it. It strikes fear.

But even if you decided to eat Mcs and s (which we don't have here)

and nothing but lollies and fatty foods it's still a diet it's just not a good

one.

I just tell people I am doing Body For Life straight out. If they ask for more

it's a structured excercise and sensible eating program.

not on a " diet "

I keep wanting to say to people " I'm on a new diet, well it's not a

diet, it's a regime, it includes..... "

What's a better was to say it without saying the word diet?
