I read about UltraMetabolism in Alternative Medicine magazine this

month. Of course, that name caught my attention! I got excited and

hoped it was something important or revolutionary or at least helpful

in some way, but once I read the article I rolled my eyes and threw

the magazine in the recycle bin because there was no significant

mention of EXERCISE. Now I kind of wish I'd hung onto it so I could

write a humorous blog entry on the subject. Who knows, maybe I'm

wrong. Maybe the book is more in-depth and helpful than the article

overview, which basically told you what kind of herbs and nuts and

berries to eat and what kind of simple sugars to avoid. I'm highly

suspicious of anybody stating that weight loss is " simple " and

" automatic " or that if you're overweight your metabolism must be to

blame.

I was reading the reviews of the book at Amazon and this one totally

cracked me up. Note that I did not write this! It just made me laugh

out loud because it's so similar to what my review of that magazine

excerpt would have been.

Irate anonymous reviewer says:

~

" There is nothing new here except the same, tired old advice.

Basically, get off your ass, move around, cut back on the sweets, and

blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah

blah blah blah. Blah blah? Blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah. Add

another diet book to the collection with another fancy word. Ooooooh,

ULTRA metabolism. YEAH! Still no magic pill for the suckers... "

Oh, boy. LOL I may actually read the book when it comes out just to

see if I'm wrong or missing something, but right now I'm not too

optimistic.

<<runs to get her March copy of Alternative Medicine in the

livingroom>> I did not see the mention of this in the March issue

(an ad or imbedded in an article?) however I really liked another

article called 'Gut Check' all about how nutrients (in both food and

or supplements)that might not be as absorbed as you think for

various reasons. Altho some of its advertising and articles are what

I call 'wayyyoutthere alternative' there is also alot of good info

every month and some surprising things too (like who knew Premarin

for menopause is made from pregnant horse's urine?? eeeww!)

Good magazine - give it browse next time you see it on your local

magazine/news/book outlet shelf.
