Guest guest
That is interesting to know . I try to keep my intake of those down and I will try even harder now. Re: I want results fast! PMS? I want to eat everything in site the week prior to AF (that was last week for me and sure enough, I got thru it). You'll get thru this 100% and I think your 4 week results are fantastic! I'm insanely jealous of your 7 lbs weightloss. What are your goals? Do you look at them every day 10x/day? Have you read Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle? It's a lot of detailed information, but it solidified the BFL plan for me. Manage your calorie deficit. Not mandatory reading, but interesting. Very numbers oriented if you're that kind of person. My husband thinks I'm taking this a little too far now that I'm tracking everything. But I'm like you, results are totally required! And I'm totally willing to work for them. What's wrong with Diet Coke? I enjoy a nice Diet Rootbeer with lunch. Yuuuuummmmy. And a very occasional diet Pepsi (yay caffeine!). I have been eating good and only taking 2 free meals on free days instead of gorging expect Tuesday I had to have some cadbury eggs! LOL The last two days I have wanted to eat everything in sight! Errrr! I have had a diet coke when it has gotten really bad. Tell me I will get through this! > > > > >
Guest guest
Hmmmm... how very interesting. I am a full blown Diet CokeAholic. I start my day with one and end my day after about ten. I have actually had days where I have gone through a twelve pack and don't even get me started on the Big Gulps. So they are supposed to make you hungry? They seem to fill me up and keep my mouth busy. People have wondered why the don't bother my stomach (I get teased a lot at work for my addiction) but they don't. I also eat splenda on my oatmeal at breakfast, in my sugar free stuff throughout the day, etc. and it never seems to bother me. Does Diet Coke make anyone else out there hungry? >>> rachel@... 3/17/2006 7:27:14 am >>> That is interesting to know . I try to keep my intake of those down and I will try even harder now. Guest guest
I don't know if they make me hungry or not, but I know they aren't the best choice. I used to be a Diet Cokeaholic too. But I have now limited myself to one a day. In fact, I try and stay away from any carbonated drinks. I'm sure someone else can tell why the carbonation is bad...I just know I'm supposed to stay away from it. Drinking my tons of water througout the day takes my mind off of the diet cokes. But I do like my one treat a day. Lynette Baity <lbaity@...> wrote: Hmmmm... how very interesting. I am a full blown Diet CokeAholic. I start my day with one and end my day after about ten. Guest guest
The Great Diet Coke Debate Well, stop drinking it and see what happens for you. I stop and start and mostly try to stay off it. Why? Every time I stop I think I get better results. Within the week of quiting it I lose about three pounds. Apparently I retain water or something when I drink it. When I start drinking it I think I cut back in my water so that's not good either. As with all of our choices this one is up to you but think - it's full of chemicals, doesn't help your body and has caffiene which can interfer with your sleep as well. Just things to think about... Guest guest
yeah, i have to agree that is a personal choice. every body handles caffiene differently. i noticed that if i have a cup of coffee before i do my morning workout, i have soooo much more energy for it (and i'm in a waaay better mood!). i also HAVE to have a diet soda when i have bad cramps. for some reason, it seems to help me feel better--probably all in my mind, but it's been that way since i was a teenager! i don't think i get bloated or gain weight with extra caffiene--but i do think for every soda/cup of coffee you drink, you need to have that much extra water. i don't think there's a " magic answer " to this question b/c you just have to listen to your body. we all have quirks to our health. for instance, my body does not hold onto any sodium. i have the absolute lowest level of sodium in my blood my dr. has ever seen. it cracks me up b/c she tells me to ADD EXTRA SALT to my meals because i'm so deficient! so that's just an example--salt for most people=bad. salt for me=necessary. so yeah, listen to your body. you'll do what makes you feel good. ec therealskari <veryskari@...> wrote: The Great Diet Coke Debate Well, stop drinking it and see what happens for you. Guest guest
I'm glad I'm not the only diet drinkaholic. I've been trying to cut back, but it's hard! I think it does make me hungry. I need to stop it for awhile to test the theory though. Lynette Baity <lbaity@...> wrote: Hmmmm... how very interesting. I am a full blown Diet CokeAholic. Guest guest
The carbonation in diet drinks makes my stomach hurt and growl. That may what they mean. Guest guest
Lynette, It probably doesn't bother your stomach because you are 20 something or 30 something or 40 something. I am 59 turning 60 and I am really starting to feel the effects of my 40 year love affair with a diet of oreos, pizza and ice cream and chocolate. Irritable bowel syndrome or whatever.. the doctors have no cure other than living on pharmaceutical pills, if you don't mind the repercussions of that poison. chronic stomach ache, bloating, acid reflux sensitivity to foods, bad digestion constipation... Of course, one cleans up one's act when one is good an ready, not from learning from someone who's been there, but, I thought I'd share that the bad effects of 10 diet cokes corroding your insides might not show up immediately.. haven't we seen on TV or somewhere where they pore coke on a car and it eats away the metal faster than the acid does? if it seems too good to be true, it probably isn't >Hmmmm... how very interesting. Guest guest
The biggest concern for me is the aspartame. Guest guest
I just thought I'd throw this into the diet soda debate for fun. :-) Caffeine and Carbonation http://www.skwigg.com/id59.html
Guest guest
Got quite a chuckle out of that one ! Guest guest
Wow. That's odd. I drink diet soda with my meals because they make me feel more full. I have never found that they stimulate my appetite. But then, I'm always hungry... I wish I could blame diet soda, but I've never had one until the last few years and they have been a life saver for me. As far as diet sodas having an affect on your insulin response... I would be interested in more sources and studies because if any sweetener, artificial or not, were to have an affect on one's insulin levels, these types of sweeteners would not be okay for diabetics and all the doctors I've spoken with and all the diabetic folks I know have no problem with artificial sweeteners or diet sodas. But an interesting take nonetheless... > > > > I am trying to be patient with my body but boy has this week been > hard (week 4 go figure).
