Guest guest
It's not ideal to consume that much sugar if your goal is fat loss. Phosphagen HP is fine for maintenance, muscle gain, or endurance sports, but most women trying to lose body fat will use Betagen or plain creatine (EAS calls it Phosphagen without the HP on the end) because neither of them have any sugar at all. If you are trying to lose fat and you want to finish the container of Phosphagen HP, you can cut the serving size in half (70 cals, 17g sugar, 2.6g creatine) and count it as all or part of the carb portion in your post-workout meal. Maybe put it in a protein shake with some berries or something. It's not awful or anything, even if you decide to keep taking a full serving. It's just not ideal because those are calories that could be coming from satisfying food instead of a sugary drink mix. The sugar is in there because back in days of yore, they belived that a great big sugar-induced insulin spike was the best way to improve creatine uptake and get the stuff into your muscle cells quickly. So, it either came in a sugary drink mix, or the instructions would tell you to take it with something like grape juice. Over the years, the " sugar rush " delivery system has fallen out of favor. Most people have found that creatine works great plain or that there are better, lower carb formulations.
