Guest guest
Do you mean moldy???? Is your area very humid????? Bath bombs need to dry thoroughly before packaging. I can't imagine that you added too much moisture, else you would have set off the fizzing action. Something else is going on. Elaborate if you can. More details. Guest guest
Yes, I live on the MS coast. It is very humid here. I colored them a light green, and a couple of days later they had brown spots on them that looked like mold. here is the recipe i used: Dry Ingredients: 1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup citric acid 1/2 cup corn starch 1/3 cup epsom salts Wet Ingredients: 2 1/2 T. sunflower 3/4 T. water (or a mixture of water and glycerin) at least 1/4 teaspoon and up to 1 teaspoon of desired fragrance oils 1/4 teaspoon borax as an emulsifier vegetable or other natural colourant (optional) - liquid food colouring works well. Mix all the dry ingredients. mix all wet ingredients and borax in a jar with a lid.Drizzal in to dry ingredients, then mold. Do you know of a better recipe? or what(if anything) in ths one would make it do that? Or mabye i just packaged them too soon. i woul app. any help
Guest guest
Try leaving out the epsom salts...they attract moisture (which is why bath salts containing it clump). The rest of the recipe should work fine. Good luck! Cat > Yes, I live on the MS coast. It is very humid here. Guest guest
Next time you make them, be sure to pack them very tightly in the mold, and after unmolding them set them in fromt of a fan for several hours before packaging. See if that helps. Your Mississippi humidity sure isn't helping.. Holly P.S. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your recipe. It's very close to the one I use. Guest guest
You can get it online, drugstores, and natural (some times called " whole " )food stores. Guest guest
Too much moisture added to them when mixing will sometimes set them off. Try a bit less liquid in your recipe.
