Really ask yourself what it would take to help you get there. Is there a reward you would like? Some thing that would make it fun and encouraging. You don't want to be dragging yourself there. Don't push or bully yourself. (I bet you've tried that already and it didn't work) Fingure out what it would take to make the challenge exciting or fun. You want to feel excited to be making the commitment to going to the gym. Was there a time in your past where you were excited about getting to the gym? What made it exciting? How can you recreate that, or create something similar for yourself? Be willing to do what ever it takes to treat yourself well enough to get yourself happy to go. Guest guest
You could maybe go to the gym and take a class to start with. I like to put some fun songs on my ipod. Could you find a partner to train with? That might help. If all else fails, just go! You'll feel better, even if you don't feel like going to begin with. As the habit forms again, you won't dread it so much anymore. Felicity <Felizatee@...> wrote: > > > Any words of encouragement? Advice? Have a heart to heart talk with yourself. Guest guest
Does it have to be the gym? Maybe you would enjoy working out at home more? I have a set of barbells and dumbells and use Cathe Friedrich's weight-lifting DVDs and run outside or do step aerobics for cardio. Give me a reason... to get up and go the the gym! I took what was suppose to be a one week break after the first challenge and that is becoming a 3 week break fast! I want to get started again, but MAN I'm really having a hard time getting motivated. I had great results, so that's good, but the thought of going back to getting up at 5 am and going to bed early is tough. I've picked up the old habit of staying up late and rolling out of bed at 8. 5 am is the ONLY time I can get to the gym, so I NEED to get up. Help! Any words of encouragement? Advice? - " Empathy is patiently and sincerely seeing the world through the other person's eyes. It is not learned in a school; it is cultivated over a lifetime. Guest guest
well...do you want to be jiggly or firm? Squishy or tight? Muscles or rolls of fat? Do you want to be the healthy gym rat that people admire or one of those people that keep making excuses. ) R > > to get up and go the the gym! > > I took what was suppose to be a one week break after the first challenge and that is becoming a 3 week break fast! > > I want to get started again, but MAN I'm really having a hard time getting motivated. Guest guest
, you need to find something that will really motivate you. Something more than " I want to look good in a bikini " IMHO. If I don't go to the gym, I feel more rundown and lethargic. I hate not having energy. I also find the gym time is MINE, a way to focus on myself and feel good about myself. It gives me confidence and strength. One thing that keeps me going is proving to myself that I can set goals and keep them. It is powerful to do this. The goals I set are things I can control, like 3X week HIIT, 3X week weights, 6 meals/day, only 2 cheat meals, etc. Instead of goals that are end- results, which set you up for failure if your body doesnt respond how you want it to. There are 2 other things that keep me going. If I don't go to the gym, my lower back starts to hurt me (I have mild scoliosis). Back pain sucks! It really drives me to go back if I take a layoff of any kind. I also want to set a healthy example for my kids, and be there for them. I can't afford NOT to go. Find what really drives you to go, and focus on that. You'll be back again pushing yourself in no time! > > to get up and go the the gym! Your mind wants to sabotage your self back into the comfort zone of no change. Thank your mind for sharing that " you don't wanna, " and then tell your mind to shut up, and get up and go 2. Do you feel better physically/emotionally when you work out BFL or when you are in your old habits and the results they cause? I also had a sluggish Challenge 2 week 1 and 2 after my free week, especially since my results from C1 weren't very significant or inspiring. But Now in C1W3D1, I had listened to Bill podcast on Crossing the Abyss. He asked WHY are you doing this, and I didn't have a clear answer, so I need to think on that. He also said, " list 10 words that are who you are 1 year from now. " I really liked doing that exercise. He suggested to focus on how you are being rather than a result... such as I am being strong and healthy and lean. Guest guest
Etana, Thanks for the heads up on the podcast! I didn't know it was out there! Looks like U2 will be getting Bill's company on my pod. I really appreciate this tip. Kari > > , > >Give me a reason... to get up and go the the gym! > >Any words of encouragement? Advice? > > 1.
