Hi Betty and Jay,

I think caliper is something like the long leg brace

as Betty said but it has more functions. As quoted in

the medical dictionary " caliper splints can be used to

exert traction on a deformed or paralysed leg as part

of orthepaedic treatment " . I was told by somebody

that he had seen a SMA kid using that few years back

but unfortunately he is unable to locate the family

now. That's why I would like to know if anyone has

experience in the caliper treatment.

Yes, KAFOs do exert that kind of traction. We use them the help keep the legs

stretched, so contratures don't get worse.
